A classic from their Motown years...

As Eddie said 'Could It Be I'm Falling in Love' and this one you posted are probably their two signature songs. The Spinners had a deep quality discog. Great group!

Happy Fathers Day/Grandfathers Day to those of you this applies. In honor of this day a couple beauties to listen to

The Winstons- Color Him Father. Such a beautiful composition from 1969. I've posted this one before I'm sure.

Luther Vandross (the GOAT)- Dance With My Father. Even though its about a father lost its truly an ode to how important a father is to a young son. This one is a tear jerker for me.

I've been on such an 80's listening tear recently, both hip hop and r&b/soul. The album 'Imagination' by The Whispers is one of the greatest of the 80's r&b/soul releases. This was track #5 from the album (one of my favorite tracks from them). A musical masterpiece.

The Soul Stirrers had some amazing lead vocalists: R.H. Harris, Sam Cooke, and Johnnie Taylor.

According to Wikipedia, R.H Harris quit the group in 1950 because of what he viewed as the crookedness of the business, and immoral behavior by musicians he saw on the "Gospel Highway" touring circuit.

I find 2 minutes too short. It always leaves me wanting more. I think 3:30-4:00 long is optimal.

Smokey Robinson (82) is appearing on June 28 at the Toronto Jazz Festival, at Meridian Hall. Don't know if tickets are available...
