I've been seeing some disturbing videos on Twitter about Jewish political street gangs and there's the recent murder of that Palestinian journalist. I normally stay away from Israeli-Palestinian threads, but some of the video footage is pretty scary.
it may be but these murderers in the states seem to be motivated by very different things

ROTFLMFAO!!! The "right wing gun culture"- that's a good one. Turn on the TV or go to the movies- a constant stream of gun violence from the woke Hollywood. Don't slip a nipple, but brains exploding in "bullet time"? That's just family entertainment. Pathetic.
What message does this photo suggest to you, JC?

This is rightie politician, Seb Gorka with his favourite AR-15. You can talk about "violent video games" and "violent movies" all you want. We both know that kids understand that movies and video games are entertainment. But GOP politicians swaggering guns is supposed to reflect real people doing real live shit in real time.

The line "it's all because of violent video games" is the lamest bullshit line there is. I class it along with "it's a mental health problem, not a gun problem" and "arm the English teacher" as prime bullshit.

Israelis want to live in peace and not have to carry weapons but tough to do when one is surrounded by over 200mm hostiles.

One question for those who love to dump on Israel and Israelis.

Question: Have you ever been to Israel and met Israelis who actually live there?
(BTW: I'm neither Jewish nor Israeli.) israel.JPG

Ah, it's so scary! Take me to a safe space before I soil myself. I think the Christmas movie will restore me. How about Die Hard?

It's not supposed to be "scary". The guy is a role model for others and he emphasizes possession and display of an AR-15. So that encourages others to emphasize gun ownership and display. And for angry sociopaths, that display includes killing other people.

In countries without a large mass random killing frequency, this sort of gun display does not occur.

Americans live in a very, very large country with a lot of people. The people who are of very diverse economic means just to begin with. When you live in Gross Pointe, MI and you literally have crashing poverty two streets down, it is not fear that forces you to acquire a firearm, it's good sense- not unlike people in the north who live with polar bears.
You do realize you just proved my point, right?

I didn't. You don't buy insurance because you're afraid, you buy it because it is a prudent thing to do against the fortune reversals. It's as simple as that especially in the country with crime rates like in America.

Dude. They are afraid. Its palpable. On many levels. Not just guns.

They fear their own government. Federal, State, and Municipal. They fear the other Party and its voters. They fear the Surveillance State. They Fear their cops, they fear their justice system. Hell they fear their frickin HOAs. Men fear the Family court system.

They Fear losing their jobs instantly due to labor laws, due to loss of Medical Care. Due to fast foreclosure and eviction.

They fear other races. Both within and without. They fear invasion, they have been at war for all but 16 years of their existence. They fear loss of place, of not being "#1". They fear their own citizens, while creating the issues for doing so.

They fear God.

They fear they aren't keeping up with the Jones. They aren't the latest style, their teeth aren't white enough, the house isn't big enough or filled with enough stuff. They fear being looked down upon.

And in all cases they fan those fears for profit and graft. Corporations, the media, individuals.

That is the reality if America. No one is fearful of all these things, but they are all fearful of enough of them.

ROTFLMFAO!! When you look at it that way, the whole world lives in fear. Don't live in fear, try to enjoy life! It's sunny outside, everything is green and it's been a pretty good day, so far.

If someone is busting into your classroom and you're strapped, you're going to respond.
If you're a cop on the outside and have to deal with red tape, that's a whole different issue.
What red tape?!

Every article I've read has stated that the official police doctrine is that you engage immediately until the threat is neutralized. That was all put in place after Sandy Hook. The Uvalde PD was trained in that doctrine only a few weeks before the incident.

I agree with you. I don't live with fear either. But my last visit down there it was indeed palpable. They live in the most prosperous nation on earth, with supposedly the most freedom of any nation, yet all of the above is true.

And for a section of the population gun ownership is a false secutity blanket. Its an attempt, like hoarding, to take a tiny bit of control of their lives where they feel they have none. One man I spoke to told about his brother who refuses to leave his state because he won't go anywhere without an open carry law. And won't ever take off his gun except to sleep and change clothes/shower.

Thats a microcosm of the modern USA. Its really ugly down their now, especially in the cities. Not to be ironic but I really feel they are sitting on a powder keg down there.

Except that's not correct, is it?

If what you said was actually true then the % of American families who owned guns would be close to 100% and there would be open war in the streets. In fact, a tiny % of American gun nuts owns the vast majority of guns and most Americans own none. Factor in the large rural population and hunters. City dwellers who own guns in the US are probably a low %. I have family in the States. They don't live in fear of poor folk coming from 2 neighbourhoods away and killing them. In fact, in most residential neighbourhoods in the US, crime's about as low as in Canada.

Crime happens in inner city neighbourhoods and in commercial areas which are specifically targeted.

So who are the dicks who do open carry with AR-15's or own 20 blinged-out AR's?..... Basically they're dudes who like to swagger guns. They're not afraid of the Black family down the street.

All my years of living.in America, northern parts and the much feared in Canada "deep south ", I've met all kinds of people. Some good, some bad, some nuts, some brilliant, some just great all around. The one thing that always stood out was their indifference about the outside world, politics and the readiness to accept someone like me- a foreigner and with a thick accent to boot. Fear? Didn't see that, but I did see the acceptance that our lives are in our hands and that the reliability of government to protect you is as genuine as the three dollar bill. And, yes, most of them had guns. I've never felt unsafe, threatened or have I been in danger- despite many conflicts and disagreements as they are common on the job sites. Unfortunately, most Canadians will never experience the real America beside the CNN garbage.

To paraphrase one of our members (the one who keeps saying he grew up in the hood and he is still alive):

"I've been to the U.S. many times and I'm still alive." What's this "fear" in the U.S. that some folks speak of? Of course, it's always wise to be prudent even here on the TTC or getting into your car in Brampton.

You want fear, go to Brazil and/or Mexico.
