That problem is caused by the parents and general public. People want police officers who deal with their kids to be all friendly, not wear hard body armour or carry high power firearms and look for alternative measures to solve issues. Guess what? Those officers who are in the schools aren't the ones who are willing to undertake the tactical training, fitness or have the mental mindset to deal with those situations.I heard on Radio 680 this morning that the local police tried to enter the school shortly after their arrival, but two police were shot by the "shooter". The local police then decided to wait for a tactical unit to arrive, which took another 40 to 60 minutes, while parents on the scene were screaming at them to charge in and control the situation. What a horror show...
Can't have it both ways.
