I heard on Radio 680 this morning that the local police tried to enter the school shortly after their arrival, but two police were shot by the "shooter". The local police then decided to wait for a tactical unit to arrive, which took another 40 to 60 minutes, while parents on the scene were screaming at them to charge in and control the situation. What a horror show...

That problem is caused by the parents and general public. People want police officers who deal with their kids to be all friendly, not wear hard body armour or carry high power firearms and look for alternative measures to solve issues. Guess what? Those officers who are in the schools aren't the ones who are willing to undertake the tactical training, fitness or have the mental mindset to deal with those situations.

Can't have it both ways.

Why the obsession with the AR? So many better hunting rifles. Bolt actions have been over and over again shown to be more accurate and the lightweight round of the AR is less likely to put a large animal down quickly.

Of course the AR is the base platform of the M16 and with the right accessories you too can pretend to be an actual soldier too.

The AR15 happens to be a good hunting rifle. Very accurate. If you did more research, you'd know calibre is separate from platform..

And quite simply, the limited stopping power of the 5.56 fired from the AR makes it less likely to cleanly put down a large animal like a moose or deer. That lack of stopping power is a big part of the reason the US army is abandoning it.

Your blanket statements are not correct. You have a track record of not doing your research, and I'm sick and tired of looking things up for you.

Many posts have shown you don't know anything about fighting, firearms, ammunition or firearms regulation. I've proven that many times in the past. It also appears you don't know anything about hunting. You're also totally ignoring what I said about the AR as a platform and how it is separate from the caliber.

Go get your PAL. Learn how to use a firearm properly, take your provincial hunting course and sign up for some martial arts. It would go a long ways to knowing the facts instead of being a keyboard warrior. You might even get fit and outside.

Why don't you go talk to your local school liaison police officer and find out. You know, in person. You're not going to find a 30 year old former combat veteran who is on the SWAT team, but really likes working with kids. You're more likely going to find a middle aged mother of 2 who can't handle shiftwork and needs a day job. What's fan fiction is people's belief that these police officers who work with the schools have extensive training and practice regularly for active shooter scenarios and have the correct tactical mindset.
