Where are you getting your news from?
There is nothing legit that I've seen post any of the ideas you're pushing here.
Its not a matter of "news" all news is suspect and all facts are being spun. That is the reality. All you can go on is the basis of what you know is true past and present, what makes strategic sense, and what outcomes have been aimed for vs what happened. Sure Russia hoped Ukraine would fold, didn't happen. No option to back down, but there was never any expectation that Kiev could be taken by force with 40 K troops, only if Ukraine folded was it possible to occupy Kiev with 40 K troops. So we are on plan B. Us promised that sanctions would crash the ruble and the Russian economy would implode. Ruble is now stronger then prewar rate. Then then you look at maps. Were the rebellions in Ukraine, Belarus and Kazahkstan a concidence based on where they are on the map? Who stands to gain and who loses. How does this mesh with current big power politics globally? Do you actually think Germany can get off Russian gas in one year? How? How is all this NATO aid gonna be delivered to where it is needed and all the troops trained and ready to deploy with these sophisticated weapons? How are they gonna obtain, distribute and protect fuel? Sure I think Ukraine can have some tactical wins, and they have some pretty good troops, bit when they can only occasionally strike at the masses of Russian firepower, and Russian can hit any spot in their country at any time with cruise missiles, any prospects of defeating Russia become really infinitismal.
Also ask yourself what is missing from the news that you know is true. Do you hear any mention of the relaignment of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church? Do you hear any mention of the changes in language rights and laws in Ukraine? How would Quebeckers react if French was suddenly declared as no longer an official language? Most if them speak english right? Frankly its no big deal to me personally, but we live in a country where language is a big issue, and we know all over the world religeon can be explosive. All these on their own have caused wars, so add it all up and why is anyone surprised?

You're not answering where you are getting your information from.
Why is that?

I get my info from all sources and gauge them against the framework above. It acts as a bullshit filter, that is all. Even when Admiral Kirby, the DOD press secretary, was discribing the movement of Russian Troops east as a "redeployment" (which is common in wars). Everyone is bleating away on the "retreat" narrative. Wars are a series of redeployments, battles are fluid. This has now become a war of attrition and Ukraine cannot win such a war. It has no means to change the nature of the war to one of manuver as it has no fuel, not enough vehicles and not enough quality and quantity of weapons. Also, its pretty clear to me that not a single NATO country is talking about peace or trying to stop the war, which is utterly morally bankrupt and appalling IMHO. Ukraine is getting shredded, the entire state and people are getting shredded and the West is cheering it on. They have no chance, zero. The alternative is WWIII. If you look at the winners and losers without emotion its clear what the game is. The US has been after nordstream 2 for 3 years now, they just decided to up the ante considerably.

You know that pundits are now predicting a Ukrainian counter-offensive, huh?

So what happened to the Russian counter-offensive you said was going to win the war?

So what happened to your prediction that the Russians would take Odesa?

So what happened to your prediction that the Russians would take Kyiv?

Interesting. Sounds like what you call a bullshit filter is just your own cognitive bias against the US in these threads. Where your anti-US imperialism anger has turned around and turned you into a Russian imperialism supporter. I say that because it appears we are looking at the same sources and coming out opposite takes. I'm checking with different sources for maps and losses and just haven't seen anything to support your arguments. Russia's plan A to fly in a rapid force and take out Zelenskiy failed, plan B to surround Kyiv and turn it into rubble until they surrendered failed and now plan C, to take over the Donbas, isn't going anywhere. Russia has taken some land and lost other land while unable to refresh troops and equipment while there are multiple reports showing NATO and others sending in much more modern weapons to Ukraine.

An easy way to check would be just to compare maps and battle lines. Show me one that shows Russia doing as well as you claim and I'll show you two that say otherwise.

I am anti hypocrisy. Powerful nations cannot stop themselves from imposing their will. After all, why have a powerful military. As they say, when you have a box of hammers, everything starts to look like a nail. So to me imperialism is inevitable and arises out of human nature. Does Russia want to rebuild the Soviet Empire? I don't think so. Will it put up with a former state that is morphing into russophobia and trying to join NATO? Of couse not. Would the USA put up with Canada if we did that? Look at Cuba for your answer. Same with Taiwan. China will not tolerate Taiwan being an anti -Chinese mouthpiece for the west...look at HK for proof. So we have 3 very similar test cases Cuba, Hong Kong and now Ukraine. Russia never planned to turn Kiev into rubble, it never bombarded Kiev extensively. I don't think they will destory Kiev, but I certaInly think they can. We will see how Zelensky reacts after the the battle of Donbas reaches a conclusion. To me the whole reason for this war is overreach or US imperialism and the desire to sever Russia from Europe, making Europe a vassal, dependant on the US, kinda like Canada. This is not a critique, I am fine with this as long as Canada can have a fair deal with the US. It is a reality, however.

This war was imperial overreach by Putin, who has been surrounded by corrupt yes men for decades telling him how strong his country and army are.
Its one thing for him to believe it but for you?

Two examples:
1) Truck tires - Telenko has done a bunch of threads on the tires Russia are using. Just today he posted a recent shot of a Russian missile launcher that was abandoned and he noted that the tires were stamped 'USSR', meaning they are likely 30 years old. This is systematic on all levels of the Russian military.

2) A recent thread reportedly by a Russian soldier on his take on the invasion. This one its hard to say if its true or propaganda, but it appears to be supported by the reports of battles.

I don't trust RT or OSINT they are both propaganda mouthpieces. [...] OSINT is primarily a western concept, and the site has developed its own cognitive bias.
Why do you keep referring to OSINT as if it is an organization or a single site?

A lot of these trucks use standard tires and only have one customer. They have warehouses full of this stuff. Its possible they are old, sitting in warehouse or that no one bothered to change the moulds as the tires have not changed.

It may be imperial overreach, we won't know that until we see how it turns out. We DO know Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria were imperial overreach by the USA.

Putin has modernised the army after Cechnya showes so many weakenesses. Georgia was an easy win but still showed issues. Syria was a longer war that allowed Russia to improve a great deal. The Russian army is powerful. If it was not, NATO would not be pouring billions in arms to try and stop it. I am sure there are areas of the war where Russian platoons find themselves in utter clusterfuck situation. One report is really meaningless. How can you tell if he was Russian or one of the repubic groups. The republic troops are not the best from what I have heard. But there are always disasters in war, and ambushes etc.

Sure, notty. In 1905. But this is now 2022 when Europe is federated, integrated and peaceful. Who tf in Europe marches around "imposing their will with a powerful military"?..... Nobody except Russia. If your theory was correct, France and Germany would re-fight the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 every 10 years forever.

And the saddest shit of all is that Russia is a weak 3rd tier European state that's a fraction as strong as the UK, France or Germany. It's a classic case of a mean chihuahua that believes it can eat the German shepherd.

Everything you post is a weak attempt to justify your support for a fascist-imperialist aggressor that is committing genocide on a smaller neighbour.

Does Russia want to rebuild the Soviet Empire?
Notty, almost every Russian state-affiliated public figure has now stated that Russia needs to re build its empire and rule all Slavs. It's nuts, but this is the core ideology of the Russian state in 2022. You're just not reading and absorbing plain facts in the news.

I don't think so. Will it put up with a former state that is morphing into russophobia and trying to join NATO? Of couse not. Would the USA put up with Canada if we did that? Notty, the Russians have genocided villages, including torturing inhabitants. They have torn down Ukrainian statues and replaced them with Russian ones. They have looted farm crops and agricultural machinery. They have bombarded Ukrainian cities into rubble. They have attempted to force Ukrainians to vote in referendums introducing Russian rule. The only thing they haven't done is dropped nukes on Kyiv - probably because their nukes no longer work and they'd probably blow up Moscow by mistake.

This has nothing to do with "Russophobia" and everything to do with fascism and imperialism.

It's been 60+ days of war and they've retreated from around Kyiv and Kharkiv and they're making no progress in the East. This is not a "brilliant feint", notty. They are genuinely a terrible army with awful, badly maintained equipment. They are simply not capable of winning at any level.

The acronym is english. So what bias do you think postings under that hashtag will generally have?
OSINT is an acronym for "open source intelligence". There are many sites which use that name. They are unaffiliated. They generally post that the Ukrainians are winning. That's because the Ukrainians are winning.

Accept it. Move on. End your own embarrassment.

So you don't reject OSINT, you just reject English sources in principle?
Russian-language OSINT you would be fine with, then?

His exact statement was that both RT and OSINT "are both propaganda mouthpieces," which implies it is either an agency or an organization.
And then of course, "OSINT is primarily a western concept, and the site has developed its own cognitive bias" here he claims it is a website.
In the answer to me he has expanded that to "a hashtag".

He might eventually realize that it is an acronym standing for a specific intelligence gathering approach that is used internationally by citizens of more than one country.
