I think the sub text is that they're a bullshit waste of time and inappropriate. There's stuff there about US defamation law and the space for public discourse that I just take on faith.

(And of course, it does it appear that she is closely aligned w Russia and Putin).

And that last point is important.
Being an "asset" is not the same thing as being an "agent".
If they accused her of being an agent I could see her trying to strike back with some defamation lawsuits.

Yes, we should impose self censorship and never, ever talk negatively about Joe or the Moron of Ottawa just in case the RT might cover it. Great attitude; it explains why the Hollywood "sanitizes" their movies to not offend China. The Hollywood producers at least have a reason for their actions(ca$h), what's your excuse?
