Personally I would have to say Killers by Iron Maiden.
Back in 1981 I remember seeing it in Woolworths and thinking 'I want that' even though I had never heard any of their music. Mum said no, I was 6 at the time.
Had to wait a few years until I could go into town on my own with money in my pocket. The first record I bought for myself was Live After Death and never looked back since. Seen them live on pretty much every tour since No Prayer For The Dying in 1991. Generally they get better every time out, with that little blip when Blaze was singing... They were still good, but he 'aint no Bruce.

More recent releases... Marillion's 20th album An Hour Before It's Dark has a wonderful minimalist cover backed by amazing music. Well up there as one of their best and well worth a listen, you can find all the tracks on their YouTube channel

Marillion’s misplaced childhood is one of my favourite albums. It’s so good, it’s hard for me to get into any of their other stuff.
