The answer is, gas and oil. Many countries buy oil and LNG from Russia, including the US and Canada. Time for Canada and the US to make these pipelines happen so we can both stop relying on Russian oil & gas and export these commodities to Europe. Effectively cutting off Russia. The most important issue now is not climate change, it's Russia. Build the pipelines and make Putin suffer. But I don't expect Trudeau to champion pipelines anytime soon, if ever. Canada has the capacity to be energy independent. Let's do it!

Putin has been saving up for the past 5-6 years for this war of his, I think he has about 600 billion saved. Putin can keep this war up for years if need be.

You don't need to build those pipelines first to make Putin suffer if you have
the will power.

Total oil + natural gas condensate production of Russia is roughly an
equivalent of 10 million barrels per day. Without any data handy I would
estimate the total amount exported to countries outside China the
biggest importer of Russian oil could not be much bigger than half of it.
Now 5 million barrels per day is huge but still only a fraction of the total
amount consumed by the world which falls in the range of an equivalent
of 80--100 million barrels of oil per day.. The western world can stop buying
oil from Russia altogether and per capita energy consumption should still
remain way higher than that of the developing world.

Stop buying oil from Russia starting tomorrow and Putin will be screwed.
Russia has an economy only about the size of Italy if I remember correctly.

Russia is the third-largest producer of oil, providing roughly one of every 10 barrels the global economy consumes. In addition, Europe gets nearly 40 percent of its natural gas from Russia. Natural gas makes up 25% of Germany's total energy consumption, and the country relies on Russia for 55% of its gas supply on top of 45% dependency on Russian coal and 34% on Russian oil.

Is there a simple, alternative solution for these countries who currently rely on Russian exports?

No there isn't. It's funny how some people think everyone can just snap their fingers and increase oil production 10 fold. If people don't like the price of oil what do you think will happen if Russias supply is cut off ? This is exactly what the GOP wants $20 a gallon gas and blame Biden

GOP wants to bring down gas prices by stimulating production
within the U.S. You may accuse GOP of climate change denial
but they certainly don't want to see gas prices to continue rising
from this level.

I may qualify that.

They don't want to see prices go up when they are in power.

They are all too happy to see prices go up when a Dem is in the White House.

Everything they do is based upon making the president look bad.

The production of oil and gas can be ramped up to the necessary levels within 6-8 months in Canada and US- especially at these prices. All that is required is the political will. With a smart, home oriented leadership we can be completely energy independent. Alas, we are saddled with Justin.

Thanks for mentioning Trump. Under his stewardship America was energy independent and the fuel.prices were not breaking the working people. Appreciate your input, thanks.

That's because many people weren't working or using gas. Once Biden effectively distributed the vaccine things opened up again and everyone went back to work thus driving up demand that was not expected. That's what we adults call inflation

I am sure Biden would not want to sanction Russia's
oil and natural gas exports because he doesn't want to
look bad. People's livelihood is secondary to his wish to
stay in power.

Blah, blah, blah... Joe's 37% approval is mostly because them Americans are sharp- they notice the price on their gas pumps. BTW, nothing to do with Covid. The production and prices were just fine long before it. BTW, this adult learned in grade school that the rise in the commodity prices is driven by supply and demand- unless you believe that the inflation is running at 100%

them americans are fools matched only by Russians.

When your country is too big and strong (or so you think), it is apparently easy to become seriously fucking stupid.

Remember the tariff turd ? You are naive enough to think that China slowed down shipments right after some fat idiot started taxing their goods had nothing to do with it? The irony is he said China was paying for thr American imposed tariffs and you guys were dumb enough to belive him. Productivity and demand was way down on most goods because people were out of work and not going out and doing things. Trump owns it. Once the idiot was gone the democrats instilled a responsible plan and job growth went through the roof. What did Biden do to slow the supply chain ? Is it because Joe retired at driving s big rig ? Did shutting down an incompleted pipeline reduce oil production somehow ? It's a strange nonsensical world you live in where you can simply blame everything bad on Biden and claim everything good was Donnie doing. That's what us adults call silly childspeak
