From cnbc:

Ukraine is not a member of the EU or NATO — the military alliance formed of North American and European nations — and so NATO is not bound to defend it.

As such, there are question marks over how far the West will go to stop Ukraine from being fully suppressed by Russia, and it is unclear whether the U.S. and EU are willing to respond with military means.

I agree it is fucked up, but if the dummies that took over in 2014, went to the east of the country, that belongs to them only on paper, and always had,...
First off, the Russian speaking population of those regions is (was) a slim minority. Second, a good chunk of the ethnic Russians there were moved in in the '30s when Soviet policy (intentionally or not) ended up with a few million dead Ukrainians; essentially colonizers.

So you're saying settler colonizers don't give you the right to take over a country?

What is your point exactly, you have been fighting eachother for the past 1500 years, those ppl live there as you have said since the 30s, and they live there now.

If you want to disect historical teritories, and blood ties of that part of the world, you will soon realise that you are all related, since you have been fucking eachother for millenia.

Thank you for understanding my point. Peaceful negotiation reflecting the rights of the people living there for generations is a good way to go. And of course Russian settlers don't seem an issue for you.

And yes, Putin's invasion of Ukraine is on as weak a standing as Farouk, Abdallah, and buddies in 1949.

...
Well my family are English and Irish and yes, they have been fighting each other and themselves for many years too.

I had carefully worded that statement specifically for dan and frank who in a different conflict are obsessed with settlers and people they consider colonizers while at the same time using the excuse of Russian speakers as a justification for Putin.

You can also see the number of posts where I said that if the Eastern Ukrainian regions wanted to separate, the way to do it is through a referendum and negotiation, not through warfare.

You must have misunderstood, i am saying that unfortunately, great powers always have more than one reason to start a war, Ukraines leadership was Naive, or justo dont care about their population if they thought that they had the say in the matter of its own independance.

Putin is not Evil or Stupid,

Then you just need to apply it to all countries.
I am. Peaceful negotiation that respects the rights of all people there.

You only seem to be upset about people of one religion living where you don't want them. Russian settlers, Russian invasion, Russia striking civilian buildings but all you are concerned bout is Israel.

I'd say he's paranoid if he invaded because of fears of a NATO invasion of Russia.

Are you still living in 1930 because in the modern world, no one has either the military nor political might to invade Russia. The US can't even pass a bill to repair crumbling infrastructure.

Hell, the Russians can't even make it to Kiev despite an overwhelming technological edge.
