i get it
trump bashing makes you feel better about yourself
We're discussing politics and Trump is in politics. I say stuff about Putin, AOC, Boebert and other people too.

Do you think it's somehow improper or unfair if people are negative about Trump? Do you think that should not be in the realm of political discussion? I'm confused here?

This is a rump thread, I find it hilarious that you're complaining we're talking about rump.

I'm surprised you haven't argued that if only rump was still president then Russia would be an ally and the EU our enemy and everything would be fine.

Do whatever you want with your internet I dont care. I’m just pointing out that you’re a broken record. You start with a conclusion and build everything around the story in your head. You’re boring okay?

Yes, and, as expected, the best course of action for the U.S. is strongly condemn, virtue signal through sanctions, and sell Ukraine. Like they did when Putin annexed Crimea 8 years ago.
The response ha been measured. Bidens response has been the strongest among the allies. He has successfully rebuilt the coalition. This is a very difficult and complicated issue without any great answers or outcomes. I am pretty sure the best course of action is not to praise Putin and provide or echo propaganda for Russia. And what do you propose. Would you send in troops?

Epiphany i just had. Politics IS the place for broken records. In fact you’re rewarded in politics for persistently lying. People eventually believe bullshit. Both sides do it. My apologies to broken records.

Curious - how is "everything according to the letter of the law"? While neither of the regions in question recognizes Ukrainian sovereignty over them, the international community does not recognize them as independent nations but still as a part of Ukraine. At best, then, under international law, Russia is directly interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign state (Ukraine.) And he can't really wear the "peacemaker" moniker since his forces are actively attacking the rest of Ukraine as well.

At most, he might - and there seems to be a surprising amount of internal resistance within Russia to this move - be trying to create an internal political reason for the action he's taken to try to shut down dissent.

But while international law is a kind of amorphous thing, it's hard to argue that he's done "everything according to the law."
According to Russian laws, Russian laws prevail over international laws :). But this topic is mute now due to invasion outside of DPR and LPR

Of course it was "measured" to make sure ti will not affect neither Putin nor their own interests significantly. No cutting the SWIFT, no embargo on oil and gas, nothing that can seriously hurt Putin. Rouble gained more than half of it original losses, - this is your indicator of how effective Biden's actions are.

The only reason they are measured is because Germany and France care more about gas than Ukraine. The people their know it. Their lawmakers have openly said it.

Leadership entails weighing many interests. It is a delicate tightrope walk. At least we now have a POTUS who listens to experts and makes intelligent decisions rather than idiotic bluster which the world generally laughs at. Refreshing.

If it was just Trump and not a bunch of the GOP and their mouthpieces, no one would care other than to laugh. Praising Putin and pretending it's all Biden's fault is all we get from that faction.
The stable genius would never cross Putin as he still hope to build a hotel in Moscow. This may delay his aspirations which may be a good thing as it will probably avoid another bankruptcy by the worst deal maker in history. When in office his foreign policy was dictated by his personal interests. Much like Jared. Gee I wonder why they refused to hold SA or MBS accountable for a brutal murder.

I answer the question, several times: total economic and social blockade of Russia. What Biden is doing now is lipstick on a pig.
You were backing a complete blockade before there was an invasion? I must have missed your posts on that.

I'd have no problem if they held a referendum and negotiated an exit plan (even though many of those Russia speakers were sent there as part of the Russification campaign starting in the 30's). But why go through that hassle when you've got a paranoid strongman willing to take over the whole country.

I dont care what Mueller found. Russia and the US meddle in both countries politics. Both ways! Are you born yesterday? Or you think I was born yesterday?
And China. And Iran. And ....

But there is a difference between meddling and invasion.
