The CPC party's eternal mortal enemy is now the CPC's newfound, transactional best friend.

"We've always loved the CCLA! No one has loved the CCLA more than we have! Long live the CCLA!" - CPC

They are doing the right thing, standing for Canadians civil rights regardless of party or political ideology.

This is a good thing. Regardless if you agree with the Emergencies Act, having it face legal scrutiny is important. Though, I think it is important we all recognize the fact that this act does not suspend the charter or rights.

This is what should have been done at the outset. if you do not agree with a law challenge it in court. Do not try and extort the government and people with blockades etc. (or overthrow the government for that matter).

Just to clarify, the Emergencies Act as a law is not being challenged here, it is that the Federal government has not met the threshold necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act.

I can't help but think of Quebec's vaccine tax. It was obvious that the goal of it was to drive up vaccinations and there would be question as to whether or not it could eventually be enforced, but it accomplished what it set out to do regardless.
My guess is that likewise the federal government is prepared to have this overturned in months, weeks or even days but if it ends the occupation now, then it is worth it to clear the idiots and put cuffs on a few of them.

I am not sure if anyone was questioning the validity of the legislation. I certainly was not. The challenge is whether or not the government has the judication to make the order under the legislation. But if someone want to challenge the legislation itself that is their right.

I think that was part of the calculation, but it isn't really one I can support.
"Do it until they manage to stop us even if we don't believe our justification is solid ourselves" is not something I want to encourage in government.

The Quebec threat did exactly what it was supposed to do. It may also have angered the yellow vests and riled them enough to talk to some people with trucks, but that's besides the point.
Quebec's 'unvaxxed tax' has people rushing to get vaccinated

I was talking about Trudeau's move here.
If I recall, the unvaxxed tax was talked about but never actually implemented.
My bad, should have replied to public fremeny instead.
Though this is likely similar, as long as they clear the protesters out it doesn't even have to stand in court to have done its part.

Agreed, which was what I was getting at. Lose a battle but win the war.

If the Emergency Act has been approved in parliament, then all the best to the CCLA. Maybe the CCLA should try to also raise the $4 Billion lost in trades during the days when the borders were blockaded. Then they can go and use their expertise to take the stress out of the Ottawa residents who have been under siege for 3 weeks. But then why did the CCLA not sue this FreeDumb Convoy for preventing the rights and freedom of those residents.

But this will be the more interesting Lawsuit:

Convoy class action claim increased to $306M as downtown restaurateurs join lawsuit
The lawsuit also names donors who gave money through GiveSendGo, the alternate fundraising platform organizers turned to when GoFundMe shut them down.

So far they already won this this Secret lawsuit:

Fed up Ottawa residents win secret suit to freeze the crypto wallets funding Canada’s ‘Freedom Convoy’ protesters

Ahhhhh this must be so hurtful to the usual alt right terbistas who support the FreeDumb Convoy!!
