McDavid is the best offensive player in the game. He's a human highlight reel. However, and I can be accused of being a homer, Matthews is a much better all around player. He can score at an incredible pace, but he also knows how to back check and play a 200ft game. McDavid is getting better at that, but not at Matthew's level.Nah we don't want McDavid we already have Matthews.... close enough...and pretty good depth, unlike the Oilers...but yeah Mitch is untouchable
If you're telling me I can have one of those guys to build a team around I'm taking McJesus all day.McDavid is the best offensive player in the game. He's a human highlight reel. I'm not saying I wouldn't take McDavid. He is incredible, and I would definitely build a team around him. Matthews is an incredible sniper, but he also is better in the defensive zone. If McDavid could add that to his repertoire, he would be even more amazing. If you're telling me I can have one of those guys to build a team around I'm taking McJesus all day.
Yes Matthews is a better sniper and much better in the faceoff circle but McDavid can skate circles around him. He's a generational type talent.
Braydon Point for one. Could have easily won the Conn Smythe the year Hedman won.Not to mention, there's ton of examples of athletes that were labeled with the "can't perform in the playoffs" tag, only turn around and have tons of success in playoffs.
They rejigged their PP. Marner on the right wall feeding is not built for him to score. Marner is scoring now. Their PP is better now because they have plenty of different configurations rather than the same set play over and over. It's a close call, but what I don't like about Marner is 0 ppg in 30+ playoff games and he's not a poo-disturber like the Tkachuks'.
Career playoff stats:yes. Mainly because I think Matthew and Brady can match the Marner playoff goal output and play better playoff hockey. Reg season it's Marner all day long.
It looks like they're doing just fine...have you seen the NHL standings lately? If the cap doesn't rise significantly, the question is really can you afford to keep him? Talent-wise, he's a keeper.
Contract-wise, can you afford to keep paying Matthews $12M, Tavares and Marner $11M, Reilly and Nylander $7M, and Muzzin and Brody $5-6M and still have money to ice a competitive team when Campbell will ask for a shit-ton more cash after this season, you need to re-tool your backup goalie situation (Mrazek M-NTC @ $4Mper), Miheykey is a UFA this year, and you've got four other RFA's in Kase, Engvall, Sandin and Liljegren to bump up? Bunting and Kampf also turning out to be keepers with only one more year on their contracts to becoming UFAs.
For a while it looked like Willy Styles might be odd man out, but his play this season has changed a lot of minds (not mine, don't like him) and his contract is too sweet to deal. You're not going to trade Matthews or Tavares (NMC) or Reilly (NMC), Muzzin (NTC), Brodie (NTC) either.
You can keep playing the shell game with the bottom six, but in the end something will need to give. Thinking of the future I still say trading Marner this off-season for a boat load is probably the best option.
Fair enough. Let's see what happens in the playoffs. We are all just guessing anyways. That's the fun part.Career playoff stats:
M. Tkachuk 15 games 3 goals 2 assists 5 pts
He may match goal output of 1 every 5 games but how about all those assists you'll miss out on.
That's 2 assists in 15 playoff games.
Brady hasn't played any playoff games so that is just pure speculation as well.
Guess you can't read. Why am I not surprised? It looks like they're doing just fine...have you seen the NHL standings lately?
Trade Marner so they can re-sign 4th line slugs...good idea.If the cap doesn't rise significantly, the question is really can you afford to keep him? Talent-wise, he's a keeper.

Stop talking, you're embarrassing yourself.Trade Marner so they can re-sign 4th line slugs...good idea.
Whatever happened to Kapanen, Johansen, Andersson, Barrie, Hyman, Moore, Gardiner, Brown, Hainsey, Ennis, Kadri, etc.
How will they ever survive losing Mikhelev, Kase, Engvall, Sandin and Liliegren...
Good comeback...can’t get the bat off the shoulder...you should stay out of the sports forum, it’s over your head.Stop talking, you're embarrassing yourself.
You didn't, and still haven't understood my original post. If you can't even get that far, no point in discussing it with you any further.Good comeback...can’t get the bat off the shoulder...you should stay out of the sports forum, it’s over your head.
You're right, I don't understand it, it makes no sense...You didn't, and still haven't understood my original post. If you can't even get that far, no point in discussing it with you any further.
