As to Ottawa in my opinion there are two takes.
First one is all the worst yahoos and idiots ended up there first and that is why there is so much entrenchment compared to the other protests this weekend in other cities. So in this the Mayor has my Sympathy.
But the other side is every other city seems to have had the mandate to clear them at the end of the day. And gave the police the backing to do it. Which means both mayors and the premiers approved of various police measures. I find it incredibly difficult to believe the Otrawa mayor is the only one in the nation without it. And considering the public statements of JT and Ford, as well as his voters in Ottawa there won't be backlash.
So either he is incompetent, or someone wanted it to continue as a distraction. And it got out of hand. Either way he will probably lose his job next election.
The word is that the Ottawa klowns have had a week to entrench themselves and it will take the army backing the cops to evict them.

The other demos are less crazy and haven't been allowed to settle in.

I think they weren't expecting regular anti-vaxxers jumping into the fray and weren't prepared. Once in the heat of it, they didn't have enough officers compared to the crowd and didn't want to escalate tensions. I'm sure if they were to do it again, they would have blocked off streets and highways and choked the bastards off. In Toronto's case they admittedly learned from Ottawa's mistake
That's what the pundits are now saying.

I'm still waiting for your link although most truckers left Toronto during the night so today not nearly as bad and nothing like the disaster in Ottawa. In the meantime let me leave you with a CP24 link. Albeit it is not clear if the shit thrower is an occupier or a concerned citizen who lives in the area and wants them out.

If it's an occupier I hope they throw the book at him, if it is a concerned citizen, they should give him a handful of poop n scoop baggies and send him on his way.

I like the double-standard here.

I think the Mayor of Ottawa has the means at this point. Yet he is making statements he doesn't. If the Capital of Canada can't handle sonething like this, despite handling hundreds of demonstrations annually, either they royally fucked up the prep on this, or the execution.

The Ottawa police is run by a pretty right wing chief.
I'm sure he and the force sympathized with the protesters.
I also wouldn't be surprised if this costs him his job.

Nope, people were happy and encouraged that the pandemic is coming to an end, and that the protests will only get bigger forcing Trudope to cancel all mandates
Do you understand how ridiculous it is to blame Trudeau for Provincial mandates? And no, he doesn't have the power to overrule the provinces on this as health care is clearly Provincial mandate. He could try passing a new law and then take it through the supreme court but that's about it.

Why aren't you complaining about Ford, the guy who's actually making these decisions?

I didn't know this and yes, this probably played a role.

Waving bye bye to the truckers. Growing up in rural Canada I have a lot of respect for farmers who grow the produce and the truckers who bring it to a store near you. They are a lot more useful than a B.A. in political science.

Come on man, it's all Justin's fault! I stubbed my toe this morning getting out of bed and immediately called my lawyer to launch a lawsuit against that trouble-making fucker called Justin!!
Yep it is. You believe Chris Sky is double vaxxed. Well guess what. Your boy Justina faked his vaccination and so did his wife.

You guys are completely clueless. It was Trudeau who implemented a federal mandate to have all truckers vaccinated

Trudeau defends vaccine mandate for cross-border truckers amid supply chain concerns

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending the federal government’s decision to implement a vaccination mandate for truck drivers despite warnings that it could worsen price increases and shortages.

Mr. Trudeau told an Ottawa news conference on Wednesday the federal government has been clear since November that the requirement for truckers would come this month.

Oblivion
The USA will not allow in unvaccinated Canadian Truckers anyway so why for a while now. This explains why some who refused to vaccinate have a lot of free time on their hands as many of them are essentially unemployed with nothing better to do than to create this blockade. Protesting the Trudeau vaccine mandate for cross border truckers with this dangerous occupation is more than a bit disingenuous and misleading and is actually a political movement in disguise using out of work truckers as big rig useful idiots.
