Dutchie have you read the book. Like John Ford with The Grapes of Wrath, Stanley Kubrick left out the conclusion of Anthony Burgess book. Instead of going out with 9th Symphony glory, the cured Alex goes out into the world only to discover that he's irrelevant.
I have read the book, and I noted in my original post that the book could be interpreted differently than the movie. I've also read some commentary from Burgess about the book, his difficulty in crafting the epilogue, and some misgivings he has about his final product. Art is art, but I think Kubrick was much more clear minded about the theme of the story than Burgess.

Kubrick pared back some of the darkest elements of of the book. Curtis Hanson did the same in LA Confidential, although elements from LAC became Sin City. In the end Alex De Large was left with a choice, control his violent impulses or die in prison.

That's the spirit! If a protest makes a valid (but inconvenient) point, just find some BS to intimidate the protesters with. Why not do a random vehicle inspection on every vehicle there? Maybe gin up a few fines that way. How about some noise bylaw fines? Public nuisance charges? Parking infractions? Vehicle registration irregularities? Maybe check the tax records too. Audit them all? Charge them for distracted driving if they are on their phones while sitting still in their vehicles on the roadway? Seatbelts? Jaywalking?
You know, just a laundry list of stuff you'd never pursue if you were onside with the group that was protesting. The stuff that governments did none of during the BLM/Antifa protests/riots or during the railway occupations by First Nations groups.
