I think the Freedom Convoy may have already accomplished something…

Well, one problem is that CBC isn’t exactly factual. Like suggesting that the Convoy might be a result of Russian interference, to give a recent example. (I’m not saying that that suggestion is not true for sure - I have no way of knowing for sure although it seems highly unlikely to me. But that statement is every bit as speculative and as much of a conspiracy as saying for example that maybe Trudeau (or whoever) might have ties with China (or Russia or whoever).)
When did they say that?
You need to quote the article and we'll see if they said it at all and how they referenced it.
Because that sounds like fake news itself.

Media applies to all sources be it Newspapers, TV and even Online Media Sources like Joe Rogan. Anyway, I did not say that The Sun and The National Post were "TV Stations".
None of you can explain in what sense these "TV Media" are biased or left wing. Unless to You on the Right Wing it means posting the really biased Pro Conservative news and opinions like The Sun.
I have seen The CBC and CTV criticize all the parties, be it Conservative, Liberals or NDP. So explain in what sense are they considered to be "heavily biased"? I know that those on the right consider The CBC to be "Extreme Left" with no real substance. How about CTV, do You consider them to be far left or far right leaning news media?

Yes, The Toronto Star is more left leaning similar to The National Post is to the Right. Remember that The National Post censored Andrew Coyne for his praise of certain Liberal campaigns in 2015, although he was right about it. The reasoning that they did so, is that The National Post endorsed the Conservative Party in the 2015 Elections.

The media got it right when they stated that the Convoy had elements of the extreme right who also got on board. I saw reports of some of their racist remarks that the Ottawa Citizens were bitterly complaining about. There were also attacks against those LGBTQ communities. Then do not forget that they are screaming for Trudeau to "resign". For implementing a vaccine mandate?? Seriously, they cannot comprehend that there is something called the Ballot Box that decided such outcomes?

I am not saying that all the truckers are far right extremists. Neither are the media, so that is a false narrative. But these are mainly right wing truckers who buy the fake Anti-vaccine Conspiracy Theories that is rife on certain far right platforms. There are definitely a substantial number of far right racists extremists as we have seen from their neo-Nazi symbols. If the truckers had zero bias they would have curtailed such individuals, and their Nazi flags and posters.

So is is okay to have elements of this convoy making racists and homophobic comments to Minorities and the LGBTQ Communities in Ottawa?
What’s your view on BLM? Were there any extremist elements in their protests? Do you think it’s fair to use those elements to delegitimize the entire movement?

The symbols you mention are of course horrible. But there were only a couple of them. Go after the individuals who carried them. Unless you use one single person’s bad behaviour to delegitimize progressive’s protests as well, you shouldn’t do that to this protest either.

As for saying the truckers that are part of the Convoy (or their supporters) are mostly far right people or anti vaccine conspiracy theorists, you couldn’t be more wrong. The Convoy as I understand it is about choice and government overreach. Many fully vaccinated people also support the Convoy, just so you know.

When these are the organizers of the Go Fund Me Movement that raised millions for the truckers:

Some trucker convoy organizers have history of white nationalism, racism

There is a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $7 million for the trucker convoy. That fundraiser has two names on it: Tamara Lich, and B.J. Dichter.

Speaking to a cheering crowd at a People’s Party of Canada convention in 2019, B.J. Dichter warned listeners about the dangers of “political Islamists,” and said the Liberal Party is “infested with Islamists.”

He added that, by meeting “with extremists,” Conservative and “establishment” politicians “put at risk moderate and secular Muslims, who want nothing more but to integrate into Canada, to become Canadian, and to leave the garbage of their birth country behind them.”

“Despite what our corporate media and political leaders want to admit, Islamist entryism and the adaptation of political Islam is rotting away at our society like syphilis,” he added, according to a story written for the Toronto Star by Alex Boutilier, who is now employed by Global News.
Another dominant voice within the convoy community is a man named Patrick King. King is listed as a contact for North Alberta on Canada Unity’s website, which hosts the memorandum of understanding that boasts more than 240,000 signatures.

King’s name was repeatedly mentioned on the convoy’s walkie-talkie app, Zello, on Friday — but he has ended up in the public eye for different reasons in the past, according to footage posted online.

In a video posted on Twitter in 2019, King suggests that unless Canadians “get up off your as—s and demand change,” they might want to change their names to “Ishmael” or “drop a bunch of change down the stairs” and “call yourself chong ching ching chang.”

In other video footage, King can be seen repeating racist conspiracy theories. In one clip posted to Twitter by another user, King says “there’s an endgame, it’s called depopulation of the Caucasian race, or the Anglo-Saxon. And that’s what the goal is, is to depopulate the Anglo-Saxon race because they are the ones with the strongest bloodlines,” he said.

“It’s a depopulation of race, okay, that’s what they want to do.”

He then talks about men with the first names “Ahmed” and “Mahmoud” who he claims are trying to “not only infiltrate by flooding with refugees, we’re going to infiltrate the education systems to manipulate it” so there is “less procreation” which leads to “less white people — or you know, Anglo-Saxon. Let’s say Anglo-Saxon, because when I say white, all the ANTIFA guys call up the race card.”

In a Facebook Live posted directly to his page, King says that COVID-19 is “not a naturally occurring virus.”

“It’s not a naturally occurring virus, it’s a man-made bioweapon that was put out to make people sick, to push the narrative for all these jabs, is what it was,” he said.

“Because the jab is the, they want to be able to track you, follow you, know your every movement you do.”
Jason LaFace — who at times uses the name “LaFaci” — is listed as the North and East Ontario organizer for the convoy on the Canada Unity website, and has been cited in other media as the main organizer for Ontario. In photos posted to his Facebook page, which were screenshotted by Global News, he shared an image titled “Canadian politicians who are not born in Canada” and included his own caption: “traitors to our country.”

According to a screenshot obtained by Global News, LaFace posted a selfie where he wore a hat with what appears to be the initials S.O.O., which is believed to stand for Soldiers of Odin — an anti-immigrant group first established in Finland.

The emergence of the far-right Soldiers of Odin group in Canada raised concerns about the potential for “anti-immigrant vigilantism,” according to a de-classified intelligence report obtained by Global News in 2017.

“One of the admins on their website is actually somebody who’s like the vice president of the Soldiers of Odin, a skinhead group in Sudbury, Ont.,” said Dr. Carmen Celestini, a post-doctoral fellow with the Disinformation Project at Simon Fraser University.

“His name is Jason LaFace. He also uses other names, but he is a vice president of this group, which organize events that will try to stop immigration, people who are BIPOC or people who are in LGBTQ communities.”

“Last summer,” she added, LaFace posted a message on Facebook indicating that he planned to “paint over a mural in Sudbury for (Black Lives Matter).”

LaFace later apologized, saying he “should have researched a bit more what was going on in terms of the mission and why it was sanctioned by the city.”

“I apologize for my behaviour to the entire city,” he said, according to the Sudbury Star.

However, LaFace showed a slight change of heart in a recent Facebook Live.

“This whole moment in history right now has changed my life for better, for the rest of my life,” LaFace said.

“I’m not a bitter little a–hole like I used to be, where I was pretty ignorant to some people online.”

However, in that same video, LaFace also issued a message about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“There’s things that are working in the background right now, that I found out this morning, Justin Trudeau is going buh-bye. It’s true, he is,” he said.

“It’s done, so now we just have to deploy our plan … he’s gone when we’re done.”

When Global News attempted to contact LaFace for a comment, he said “no thank you” and hung up.

Guess You are now going to call the facts that are released "biased"!!

Good job avoiding all the questions that I asked. I’m sure if you dig deep, you won’t find anything offensive ever said by any left-wing protest organizer! Those riots, destroyed statues etc never happened.

You can hold individuals responsible, but don’t call so many people who are just tired of what has been in many Canadians’ view government overreach racist.

I assume that the contents of those articles you listed are true. The bias is not necessarily in the articles themselves, but in the fact that those media don’t seem to do as much of a rigorous background check of major figures in left-wing protests and write an article about every questionable person they find among them. It’s about the double standards.

Anyways, I’m not interested in arguing back and forth, as it will be a waste of both of our times. So I’m signing off from this thread. No disrespect to you or others I disagreed with today. I just don’t feel
there’s any point in arguing, especially when none of us are individually making big decisions for the country (well, I know I’m not). Cheers.

By constantly concentrating on one thing you are making general and sweeping statements regarding the thousands who attended and supported the rally. You said:" If the truckers had zero bias they would have curtailed such individuals (racists with flags- all 5 of them- I presume)" . Yet, that's EXACTLY what the crowd did and ejected them- we even.have the video of that actually happening, and it was even posted, here. It was also posted all over the social media. But, the Prime Minister decided to double down and most of the MSM were only too happy to follow. It is now a double edged sword that's cutting both ways and our PM has become a caricature because every time this is mentioned, it is accompanied by the pics of our Dear Leader prancing around in black face. It took Justin years to push that into dark corner only to have it roar back and with vengeance AND around the world. LOL!! A school buddy of mine sent me a text from Munich(!) commenting on our "colorful " Prime Minister. We are a laughing stock around the fucking world.

Oh my…. I am a little impressed with this post. While you mischaracterize the video, I have never actually seen a Rightie denounce bad behaviour. Normally I hear excuses for it…

Not sure if you bothered to read what I said, but I wasn’t defending the Tories. We were talking about the bias of the media. If the Liberals wanted to condemn blackfacing and Conservatives said no to it, it would be a big story. But maybe you disagree. Either way, I’m not going to argue back. Each of us in the end makes their own observations and hopefully draw their own conclusions.
Except it's a nothing story. A motion to condemn something that happened at a private party 30 years ago?!.... Hey, that's WAY more important than COVID, the truckers, Ukraine, etc, etc.

C'mon. It's a bullshit move by the Tories and the only people who are interested in this shit is some people on the far right who want to chant "Fuck Trudeau!" for 7 hours.

If I may chime in, you’re over-simplifying. When you lose your job and then can’t afford your rent and can’t feed yourself or your family, it’s really not a choice.

Just to be clear, what I’m saying shouldn’t be thought to have any implications about my own vaccine status or feelings about the vaccine. The point is, many of us (including me) are pro-choice about abortion. Why not about newly developed vaccines? Even if we want to argue about saving lives that would have otherwise been lost during the pandemic, with any measurement it is definitely not true that each unvaxxed person is costing 1 life. On the other hand, you can argue that each abortion costs 1 life. Nonetheless, many of us don’t want any restrictions for abortion.
Yuh. If a woman gets an abortion, it's contagious and she gives abortion-itis to every other woman she comes into contact with.

Even worse the CBC......
Oracle, you post links continually for the most biased, distorted, hate-filled, far right propaganda sites in existence every day. Your own ideas of accurate news coverage are hopelessly distorted. Compared to the propaganda, free-dumb nonsense you post continually, the CBC is a bastion of objectivity.

Right. An individual who doesn't even remember how many times he.played Mr. Dressup when asked directly has a perfect excuse- it happened years ago! Was in the 1920s when he was on the road with Al Jolson? What's his excuse for dressing up as a Hindu while being the Prime Minister and embarrassing the whole country?

Trudeau is a dick. It happened 30 years ago.

Do you have anything else you can think of to deflect a little more in this thread?

So, it happened in the 90s? The black face was OK in the 90s? I remember that time differently. 😆 Who's deflecting, now?

You missed the point of the post - or at least are pretending to, in order to deflect the thread a few more posts.

The point was that the Tories are wasting time debating minor shit that happened 30 years ago, instead of dealing with the business of government.
