Doubt Campbell will ever be considered as good as Johnny Bower or make the HOF or have his statute in front of Scotia Arena or have his number retired.

Bower's debut in the NHL at age 29 in the NHL was very unusual. Most, if not all, great goalies of his era had their debut while still in their early 20's.
He didn't have a full time gig until age 34. In the previous 6 seasons he played 7 games.

Using your expertise, what technical flaws do you see in Campbell's game that make you skeptical of his abilities and that this year is an anomaly. His stats have been outstanding, so it must be something that you see. Please enlighten us.

No Leaf goalie in the top 100 NHL players unless one counts Sawchuk and Plante as Leaf goalies.

The Habs didn't miss Esposito because they already had Vachon and Dryden during Esposito's productive years with the Hawks. Espo's last 5 years with the Hawks were rather ordinary.

BTW: The career GAA for Worsley, Vachon and Esposito are roughly the same (give or take a little bit). Worsley spent 10 years with some pretty poor Rangers teams.

===========================================================================

Maybe Campbell is a late developer, time will tell. His major weakness appears to be his glove hand. The Habs were shooting high on his glove side in last year's playoffs.

"Not many years ago, the promise that prompted the Stars to draft the youngster had dissipated. Even for Campbell, there had to be times when he didn’t think he’d even make it in the NHL. He’s now 30 years old; and, after being a career backup, during the 2020-21 season, he had his breakthrough. Maple Leafs’ starting goalie Frederik Andersen was hurt and Campbell stepped in."

You are desperate and have no idea of how to debate or back up your lame assertions.

You run behind mama's aprons but cannot respond to my comparison of the careers of Bower and Soupy. Why didn't you deal with the issue.

You appear pathetic running to the mods for such an innocuous post as you've done dozens of times already.

Speak to the issue - do not speak to the poster, make allegations about their beliefs, bring up old posts, etc, etc.

Bans will be applied." Mod 99

Biega loses his man Reeves in front of the net goal
Sandin can't handle Reeves goal.
Lily weak backhand terrible turnover goal.
Off the face off Lily can't handle Kreider falls down goal.
That in a nutshell was the game.
Muzzin may appear to be having a bad season but he's still Muzzin.

GTA & Thereabouts...
Biega is an AHLer... Couldn't get it done.
Clearly, the Leafs missed Muzzin (shit year) and Holl.
I like Sandin a lot. He'll be great. Lily will be a 5-6 man hopefully.
I was actually frustrated at the offence tonight and their poor defensive play.
Leafs couldn't keep up physically. Rangers used it for momentum.

Campbell looked pretty ordinary in his last 4 games.

Leafs need Muzzin and Holl at their best or it's another 1st round exit. Perhaps Dubas will make a trade at the deadline.

With 57 point after 36 games the Leafs at a .708 pt/g clip and this seems to give an impression that this will be a very competitive team in the playoffs. However, a more in depth analysis of this record may offer a different view :

Against teams which are currently out of a playoff position, the Leafs have had a dominant record of 14-3, but against teams which currently hold a playoff position in the east, and most likely one of which will be Leafs’ 1st round opponent, the Leafs’ record stands at 3-6.

Once again the Leafs are in a fight for a playoff spot. However, they are ahead of the Bruins at the moment and have 3-5 games in hand on the two teams ahead of them.

It’s my understanding that even if the Leafs‘ overtaken by the Bruins, they’ll finish as a wildcard and play the Metropolitan winner in the 1st round. I can see changes in the orders of the top four in each division, but the other teams post very little danger to challenge any of them. So chances are the Leafs will face one of the other top 7 teams and so far they’ve had a 3 wins 6 losses record. It’s still a relatively small sample so we’ll see how the Leafs flare the rest of the way.

Leafs PP tops in the league. Only team above 30%.
They've jumped Edmonton who were up huge before their free fall.
They now have plenty of movement.
Gone are the days of doing the same play over and over.
