What is the definition of "excess death"? That would imply that there is a correct number of deaths.

I’m guessing whatever is above what would have been projected based on before Covid data assuming there was no Covid.

It’s an interesting data to look at for sure.

Meanwhile:
Sweden has administered at least 17,743,797 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that's enough to have vaccinated about 86.3% of the country's population.

Excess deaths are the amount of deaths observed that are in excess to expected number of deaths over a given time period.
What this graph suggests is that there is a real consequence to locking down populations for extended periods of time.

A benchmark against expectations is not a data point it is a turd being polished to look like a data point.

Yet if the data was on your side you'd be touting excess deaths as solid science. Thanks for playing ;)

Why would I argue using fake data when I can argue using real data?
Or you could just ignore the footnotes indicating the data from Sweden was incomplete.
"

  1. Clearly incomplete data is marked by a large, abrupt drop in the death count — often well below the five-year average — and a pattern of substantial upward revision to the count from recent periods.
  2. In 2020, for instance, there were an estimated ~2500 such deaths; see here for details.
Before 27 September 2021, we did not include these deaths in Sweden’s data series because our source at the time, the Human Mortality Database, did not include them.
So the way I read it Swedens data is missing 9 months of excess deaths.

Spot the country that avoided lockdowns and minimised restrictions. A clue: the yellow coloured one on the map.

Again James, you post data starting at the very end of 2020, missing the first year of the pandemic. Why do you persist in doing this. Sweden was still below the UK for death rates at this time but still sat at 91 per 100000. Cherry picking the data isn't a good look.

I think it's pretty obvious why he left out nearly all the 2020 excess death data:
