Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and Officer Tyler Bailey were shot Dec. 29 while responding to Comfort Inn Hotel

An Illinois police sergeant was pleading for her life moments before she was fatally shot with her own service weapon by a gunman in a hotel last week, documents provided to Fox News show.

"At the time Sullivan fired the fatal shots into Sgt. Rittmanic, Sgt. Rittmanic was pleading with them to just leave, 'you don't have to do this, please just go, please don't please don't.' She was desperately pleading for her life," Kankakee County State's Attorney Jim Rowe said in court Monday.

Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and Officer Tyler Bailey were shot Dec. 29 while responding to a Comfort Inn Hotel along a highway in Kankakee County regarding barking dogs that were left in a vehicle. They found the room where the vehicle’s possible owner was staying and were shot while talking to the people in that room, the sheriff's office said.

Senseless killing of law enforcement. Illinois is a cesspool right now. You couldn't pay me enough to be a police officer there.

I am totally sickened when these types do not resist arrest necessitating LE killing them during the arrest protest.

This is what happens when the lefties demonize the police.

I've been to the U.S. many times, never had any problems with the police. Can't say the same for some members of an ethnic group that we are not allowed to name.

How about the fucking righty gun advocates that encourage gun violence. It works that way, no guns, no gun violence, problem solved. Take your fucking partisan bullshit and stuff it.

I think people need to recognize a few things about what is going on in Illinois. It is surrounded by states with laxer gun laws. Gary Indiana is only about 40 minutes away from Chicago. You do not need a license to buy a firearm there, and guns are not registered. So, a lot of guns are bought there and sold on the streets of Chicago. Same thing can happen in Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. So, while the right likes to point to Illinois for its restrictive gun laws and the failure they are at enforcing them, the issues is actually outside their control.

Now, the south side of Chicago has become a war zone for a number of reasons. Historically, it is the site of ghettos/projects of the worst kind. Systemic racism is a serious factor for what is happening down there. These were areas that were "red lined" back in the 40s, and things haven't improved.

This is a tragedy, plain and simple. Lord know's what provoked these idiots from executing the officer. But they will spend the rest of their days in prison.

But here's the thing: leftists didn't demonize the police. They did it to themselves. In the past decade, there's been at least four (and probably more) incidents where a suspect begged for their life before an office killed them. Most recently George Floyd, but also Michael Garner a few years earlier. Not to mention all the other high profile killings caught on video where a trigger happy cop killed an unarmed black man. I never hear the right talk about police or prison reform (unless they're the ones in jail, like the January 6th suspects). Look, I understand that police have a difficult job, and most of them are probably good people. Part of the issues here are that cops are so poorly trained in the US (and maybe up here as well), that they do not know how to de-escalate tense situations and instead go for violence. And this doubles when the suspect is a POC. Yes, cops have shot and killed unarmed white people. And the statistics are not well kept, so we really can't say with 100% accuracy how large the problem is.

As for you never having any problems with the police....are you white? I am, and I too can say I've never had an issue with cops on either side of the border. I can tell you that many minorities do not have the same experience, especially in the States.

Shit you sound just like the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightweight.
For the record, you need a license to purchase a handgun in Indiana. You don't need one to purchase a long gun. You still have to pass background checks for all gun purchases.
As we know the vast majority of the guns used in crime in Chicago are illegal handguns. Many with unknown origin. The reason being criminals are generally smart and grind off the serial number from stolen firearms. Others are ghost guns, basically made from gun kits. This is a growing industry for criminals. Some are smuggled in across the Mexican-U.S. border.
So playing the blame game on Republican states like Indiana or Missouri is simply Democrat deflection from their failure to take care of their own backyards.

You're right, you can't blame republican states.
We should blame the NRA, their lobbyists and the type of politicians that glorify gun use.

The article said she was shot with her own gun. So, we can leave the NRA, illegal guns, etc. out of this conversation. It's not complicated. The thugs (can we call them thugs?) got hold of her gun. Despite her pleas they shot and killed her.

And this is the reaction from one of our members:
"Take your fucking partisan bullshit and stuff it"

You're right it was her gun, terrible that they would excuse this murder.

There's something missing in their DNA. They also excused the murder of a girl by her two brothers in another thread.
