Remember when blackberry pushed the narrative “blackberrys are for work iPhones are for play”?

my BB Pearl was the worst phone I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t hold a charge abs you had to take the battery out to reboot it several times a day.

If Basillie hadn’t fucked around trying to buy a hockey team he could have stopped the tsunami that was iPhone and Samsung.

he’s an idiot and his idiotic phones can go the way of the dodo
Exactly. What the fuck was that about.

I remember they made a big fuss about adding a camera to their phones. Always complaining about security and business needs. Crazy.

But I actually don't think they could have stopped the tsunami of Android phones coming.

Google, Phone Manufactures and Cell Providers all basically colluded to control the market. Even Apple had to bring out the Lawyers to stop them.

It's this arrogance that must have been all over the corporate culture.

Blackberry QNX is a very respected real time mission critical operating system for embedded electronics, and is doing very well.
There is now more to BB than their phones.
QNX was purchased by RIM almost 12 years ago and was used as the operating system on the Playbook which was Blackberry‘s only tablet. I remember getting serviced nicely one evening at a Hot Rocks Sauna and after words completing an assignment in their sauna on my tablet that was due that day before midnight years ago.

I had a friend they recruited right out of university in the mid 90’s. Remember him bringing a prototype to a Christmas party late 90’s & we were all like wtf is that! He was explaining you’ll be able to send sms messages around the world, emails, & pictures...& everyone’s like have another drink bud! The phone had it all...just no network to support it!

QNX was originally purchased from its founders by Harman Kardon (yeah, the. Speaker guys)in 2004. They then sold it to BlackBerry in 2010.
