You guys are pure entertainment. Priceless.
😂😂😂
What gets me is that Phil has been posting about the uselessness of cloth masks and so called surgical masks for months on here and the masketeers always just blew him off.

They're a little late to the party.......LOL

What gets me is that Phil has been posting about the uselessness of cloth masks and so called surgical masks for months on here and the masketeers always just blew him off.
First if I recall he was saying all non N95 masks were useless. He was wrong.
From the article in the first post
"
“One thing which is really important to realize is if you have a single layer cloth mask ditch it, full stop,” Dr. Peter Jüni said. “The minimum would be a double layered cloth mask that has been washed before so that it is denser and filters better and really fits well. Even better than that, a medical mask below and the cloth mask on top and then it depends on your (exposure). If you are a bus driver for example it makes sense even to think about better protections.”

For much of the pandemic, government officials have resisted acknowledging COVID-19 is transmitted via aerosol spread, insisting that it was spread by droplets. But on Wednesday Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore told reporters he is concerned that there could be “much more aerosol spread” with Omicron compared to previous strains of the virus."

1: He was wrong about all non N95 masks being useless.
Double layered cloth masks are not useless
Medical masks combined with cloth masks are not useless. It says nothing about medical masks by themselves.
2: He posted before Omicron. Which doesn't make non N95 masks useless in any case.
3: Every bit of "evidence" he presented at that time was wrong. Usually he didn't understand how to read the studies or misapplied them or something. Over and over he would post something and people had to explain how he got it wrong and yet even though it was obvious, much like those Jebus cultists who insist the bible is without error no matter how many errors and contradictions you point out to him he never once backtracked but instead doubled down. We are not even talking my source vs your source arguments he was just flat out wrong.

In short, he was never correct
He posted at a different time [although he still isn't right today]
and he never backed up his arguments with any sort of facts or actual evidence.

The advisory says the evidence did not support significant protection effect of N95 respirator use over medical masks when caring for patients with suspected COVID-19 infections prior to the emergence of Omicron.

Hell the article might as well have added that Phil from terb.cc was wrong.
People were right to blow him... off. He was spreading lies and misinformation.

However with Omicron's ability to spread it isn't unwise to reconsider ones masking strategy. That is what reasonable people do... which Phil never did when debunked over and over again.

agree. With omicron, the playing field is different. It’s clearly more easy transmitted airborne/ via aerosol. Up the mask game and cut down on the close contact.

Perhaps we should double mask and use the face shield. Even outdoors. And of course at the Christmas dinner table with boosted family members We can cut a little flap in the masks to eat and drink. But make sure you're all sitting 6 feet apart!
All to avert a likelihood of hospitalization or death that is lower for us than a vehicle collision.

Do what you like. However there is a lot more at stake for a society than one individual’s personal risk of illness. Do you know anyone old? Diabetic? Immunocompromised?

Omicron is airborn. I bought two packs of N95 masks with 20 per box for $29.99 each. The price has come down as more supply is available. Hurry as demand goes up and supply becomes limited.

Probably won’t be effective because most people don’t know how to handle them properly. You have to touch them only with clean hands when you put them on, you must handle them by the ear straps on removal, you have to have the exact right side for your face or it’s useless, you must not have any facial hair or it’s useless, you must not touch the mask with your hands etc. Absolutely fucking worthless. But if enriching Chinese manufacturers calms your nerves, who am I to judge?

Edit: just to be clear, I do agree N95 masks are effective when worn properly. However, we knew that since 2020, so why did the “experts” tell us to wear useless face diapers from China for two years instead of mobilizing wide scale domestic production of N95 respirators? I should really leave the Covid forum now because I feel like I am treading on thin ice with all my criticism. The absolute incompetence of our leaders makes me pissed to no end.

I agree, same thing with those idiots who suggest cars should have airbags and seatbelts. Perhaps we should just go 5 miles per hour and have 20 layers of bubble wrap when driving and the car filled with a stiff foam and have all cars be surrounded by 5 feet of cushioning.

Taxes, perhaps we should tax everyone at 100% even just enslave everyone.

Doesn't mean seat belts and taxes are a bad thing.

Strawman much. Anything sounds silly if you apply the slippery slope fallacy.

Just once I wish people who were opposed to public health measures would make a valid arugement or present evidence that is both sound and actually supports their position. Just once, for a change of pace. Worst thing is, there are valid arguments one can make but instead of respecting us by bringing their A game it's nothing but lies and or bullshit.

Well, have a drink and light up a fat one. Getting upset about governmental policies is like howling at the Moon. You get tired, piss off neighbors and the Moon still doesn't give a shit. In Ontario hospitals the visitors must TAKE OFF the N95 and put on the covid masks. Some airlines are doing that, too. This is an illustration of the whole covid mitigation efforts- like painting circles on the grass in our parks. But don't worry. If you can actually see the stupidity, take heart- you're one of the sane people.

Sadly his continual argument was everything except N95 was useless instead of stating the obvious that cloth masks are less effective than N95. He also ignored the important parts about maintaining a proper seal which would mean proper sizing and all men being clean shaven.

There have been some articles that amateur fitting of N95 is good enough for people not in high risk situations but that lowers them to similar effectiveness to a well-fitted level 3 surgical mask.

Agree with this. Properly fit tested N95 is best. But one that fits tight on the wearers face (if you breathe in hard, does the whole mask suck in? The KN95 are pretty good. And fit a variety of shapes of faces too.
