Nope. Being a leader of either party is more about the ability to raise money than anything elese, and none of these are big fund raisers.
correct, policies mean nothing.

C'mon. Sarah Palin was really, really dumb - except for when it was grift time - and all the GOP dummies are smart when it comes to grifting.

AOC is solid university level. Maybe not Harvard Law, but solid university level.
Boston U.
And Harvard isn't really a guarantee of brains.

Why do some people call US Democrats "leftists" when the majority of them would be conservative by Canadian or Western European standards?

The middle ground of the American political spectrum is far to the right of the middle ground in Canada or Europe, there's no denying that.
Yes there is.
Lots of studies on this.
The middle ground is far to the right only because the gap between Republicans and Democrats has gotten so big.

The GOP never liked him they just fear him and his cult of voting fools.
That's the leadership.
But the voters are different.
And the leadership follows the voters because the voters elect new leadership.

Forgot about her.
Makes sense.

Nope. Being a leader of either party is more about the ability to raise money than anything elese, and none of these are big fund raisers.
They seem to be doing well.

Overall, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) topped the seditionist list. And in the House, the top fundraiser was also among the most controversial Republicans: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Greene reported $4.53 million in receipts so far this year, topping the second-biggest campaign raiser in the House group—Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)—by more than half a million dollars over six months, the vast majority from small-dollar donors.

[...]

Beyond Greene, that list includes McCarthy’s $4 million total, along with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who raked in $3.7 million, and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who raised $3.16 million.

Lol....what i'm trying to say is...she don't act like she was a Boston U grad...lol...
Sure she does. She's smart, well spoken, articulate, involved.

You don't like her because she doesn't share your views. And because she thinks, acts and speaks like a 30 year old smart cookie, not a 50 year old smart cookie. That 20 years of experience is a big difference-maker.

She's young, not dumb.

Compare her with Cawthorne who's young, extremely dumb and extremely dishonest and corrupt. It's like comparing gold (AOC) to dogshit (Cawthorne).

The best defence of the idiocy of AOC is to point to the idiocy of
MTG. But if MTG is the dumber one between the two she is
never much of the Republican counterpart of AOC. You won't find
many Republicans dumb enough to look to MTG as a rising star
and a leader in the future.
Yeah, except she never said that. This is part of a right-wing attempt to make her look stupid using badly thought out memes. There are others like her apparently claiming that China could never sneak attack the US because they are 12 hours behind so the US would always see it coming.

Now, I'm not saying she's a Rhodes Scholar or a Mensa candidate, but the right have it out for her and will stoop extremely low to smear her. Is it misogyny? Sure. I think the right hate women on a number of levels. They crucified Clinton mostly because she was a woman, and sure, she might not have been popular, but the venom and horrible things they said about her reek of misogyny. AOC scares them. She's attractive, knows how to use social media, and is not satisfied with the status quo.

So, I don't have to compare AOC to MTG or Boebert. She is leagues smarter than them.

As for the Tweet she made about Kavanaugh, what part is inaccurate? He has multiple credible allegations of sexual assault, the FBI did a very limited investigation (in fact, they were limited by Trump's White House), and Trump, who is attempting to overthrow democracy, did appoint three justices who will make the pivotal decision in the abortion case.

So, the best the Right can do is make shit up about her to demonize her to their base. The left doesn't have to do anything to prove the lack of intelligence for MTG, Boebert, Crawford et al. They make that case nearly every time the speak.
She attacked donor interests, and is trying to change system. There is billions and billions at stake. Of coarse they have it in for her. Most of the people who call her dumb… they just listen to other peoples take, and don’t actually listen to her.

No idea what’s she’s like outside of Washington, but she is incredibly effective at questioning and calling out BS… and many many people do not like that. Hence the retaliation and non stop personal attacks. She must be doing something right.

So who is?

In 2020, Scalese and McCarthy were the biggest GOP fundraisers in the House. Pelosi and AOC led the Democrats.

Any surprise that McCarthy and Pelosi are their respective party leaders in the House?

No one surpasses Greta Thunberg in calling out BS in promises and climate policies
of world leaders. And what has she accomplished in terms of emission reduction?

Likewise what has AOC accomplished in terms of improvement in access to health care?
Is Big Pharma going to lower the cost of prescription medicine in response to her attacks?
If AOC's calling out Exxon's cover up of climate change is what led Big Oil to have openly
declared commitment to zero emission lately that would indeed pass as an accomplishment
in helping to shield the oil industry from attacks by climate sheeple while they continue drilling
like there is no tomorrow.

Her legislative chops have been suspect - she has some things she's co-sponsored but she doesn't have a top tier track record in getting things passed or amended.
In a hyper-polarized environment, though, that may be a less meaningful skill than what she's shown in oversight and questioning.

And as I showed above, MTG has passed McCarthy this year.

Since when has a junior congresswomen been able to push legislation through?

They call her dumb, because they are unsuccessful in arguing against her opinions.

Rarely, but you can get on and co-sponsor things early.
There are metrics on this.

She's middle-of-the-road from what I remember? Maybe bottom third? (like the 40th percentile or something?).

The thing is, very little is getting passed in this environment, and nothing was when she got in 2018 since the Republican Senate was blocking everything. That makes it hard to say that is a meaningful metric right now.

And who exactly HAS been successful in achieving that stuff?

Isn't the system set up to block any such inconvenient boat-rocking?

Couldn't they be any different?

On side you have a poor half puerto rican born in the Bronx who manage to win second price in high school for the International Science and Engineering Fair while in high school (the MIT even named an asteroid with her name after that feat). After her father died of cancer in 2008 she fought with her mother to save the family house (testament problem) where she took every possible job to makes ends meet. She kept her political work to become the youngest candidate ever elected to congress. She speaks firmly and elegantly and is very well mannered. On top of it she's quite cute with a body to die for.

On the other end you have a spoiled stupid fat guy to whom everything was given and who cheated absolutely every opportunity he could to become a billionaire (still simply putting the 200 millions he got from his father in the stock market he would have end up richer then he is now). On top of it the guy has no humanity, humility and demand respect instead of earning it. A born cheater.

What can she do? The US system is corrupt. The politicians are not in charge anymore, their donors are. Banks write the banking laws… big pharma writes the pharma laws, and Big Oil writes the energy laws. The politicians just sign them. Yes, it happens in both parties, but one party is a little more aggressive at it. One Congress Woman cannot overturn a Supreme Court decision on Citizens United. And the Right Wing Media ensures there voters never actually listen to her… just the rhetoric about her. Better that way for them. And look at the usual suspects on this board who drink the kool-aid. Not smart enough to listen to her for themselves. Besides, their cheerleader outfits are pretty form fitting… why stop wearing them now? “Gooooo Trump!”

In your view if voters do listen to this talk of AOC for real and take her seriously
what good would come out of it?
