Let me explain Canadians' feeling towards Americans.
Most Canadians feel positively towards Americans, although, like any two countries, there are aspects of American laws etc that they like or dislike. The US is like our big brother that sometimes bugs us or bullies a bit, but nevertheless were are generally on each others' side.
This is a totally separate issue from liking certain laws etc. I think some US laws are poor laws, and certain forms of justice such as being able to sue someone and not have to pay costs if you lose (correct me if I am wrong about this) which can lead to nuisance lawsuits. But hell, I hate just as many Canadian laws, as a Canadian.
But there has always been a core of Canadians, albeit a minority, generally academics and left leaning groups and politicians, that are consistently anti-American. It is ideological with them.
But like any country, it i smade up of individuals, so to say AMERICANS are this, or AMERICANS are that, or Canadians feel this is nonsense.
