That's interesting. Do you really have no friends - I mean none? How do you fill your time?

That watering hole comment is something I learned recently. I am fortunate to not be in the same situation (or any bad situation for that matter)as the person who made this topic but I learned after getting to know a few of the people at two of the local bars near me that they’re at low points in their lives. Be it horrible marriage, divorce etc. some of the most friendly talkative guys there have a lot going on with their lives. Which is why I sort of stopped going to those bars and visit a further one because it’s sort of depressing now after hearing their stories.
If you see an old guy tying his scarf to his wrist, buy me a drink. I keep spilling mine.

😆 Yeah, but after hearing their stories, I bet your life doesn't seem so bad, eh?

If your hobby is nature/hiking there are definitely plenty of hiking clubs around. https://www.ontariotrails.on.ca/hiking-clubs Pick one and join it.

Then make it a point to group hike for every 3,4 or 5 solo hikes. As for easy conversation on a group hike go to the book store and grab a book on fauna, another on birds and a journal. If you have enough money grab a pair of binoculars and a decent camera. Identify what you see on your solo hikes and talk about it on the group hikes. You'll find plenty of like minded hikers willing to talk about you've seen. From their you'll get pointers to other areas to hike, bird clubs to join, gardening clubs etc... photography etc...

In a meanwhile, watch lots of TV - it helps to get the time pass by.
I watch a shit load of youtube, mostly people doing things I wish I could be doing. That might not be helping.

if you can't be honest with one another...
It's to save face. They don't want their other married friends thinking they don't have a successful marriage.

The original lecture is well over an hour. This is the condensed 10 min version. Worth the watch.

The Last Lecture is an academic idea that if you were going to die, what is the last talk you would give your students. Randy Pausch had pancreatic cancer and did not need to imagine.

It’s really surprising how some of the most happiest, joyful guys are just dead inside.
LOL! Very few of us are willing and able to show our true self to the world.

Probably not but marriage is a whole different ball game than going out. Especially a marriage that is failing.

Stop wallowing in self pity.

take up a sport. You need some male companionship. Google men’s indoor soccer.

There are women you marry and the women you fuck. Rarely do they meet. Get out, have some fun, meet some people and don't forget to stop at your local watering hole at least twice a week- you'll meet lots of guys like you, there.
what he said. Weed helps too

I suck at sports, and weed makes me feel like shit (mentally). But good suggestions anyway.

Take on fishing...I felt starting it was a serene, hobby to be alone....it was, but along the way I have met a lot of great people through fishing...just be careful....it could be a very expensive hobby....all the way to buying a boat...lol...

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately knowing someone is in a worse situation does not make your life good. Therapy: cannot afford, don't believe in it. Building father skills: I wish I knew how. It's hard when you have no friends, family or network to give you advice. When my kids were born I wanted nothing more than to be the best father I could be. It's been one big disappointment since then.

Red pill - I always look for the truth, but not sure that's a good tactic. In the country where I live now we employ a helper for a few hundred bucks a month (don't cry, this is above average). She hasn't seen her family - including 3 kids - for a few years. Yet she is genuinely cheerful and positive. Surely that's blue pill.
I’m sorry but if you don’t believe in therapy I don’t know how you think you’ll ever get better. That’s what therapy is meant for and many different forms & some is free. We choose the path we are on & you can choose a different one if you really want to find happiness. I know I did and I am not looking back. Best of luck and I am really glad to see all the male support on here 🥰

Fishing aint a sport! :p

About therapy. I don't live in Canada and healthcare isn't free here. I would rather save my pennies so I can change my environment as soon as possible. I hate working, I don't much like my family and hate everything else about my situation. So changing my situation seems like a better plan than changing myself.

When I was a teenager, a friend traveled to Spain. There, a wise man told him: when you find the perfect pussy, your life will be complete. When I met my wife I thought I had found it. But it was a lie. Now she's boring, frigid and distant. Fuck that Spanish guy. Yes, big time regret.
It takes two.

You say your wife is boring, frigid and distant.

Then you say your social skills are limited, you are unhappy with your life, you have a decreased sex drive and do not believe in therapy.

I am sure your wife and children sense your disdain for your current life and situation and that could affect how they interact with you.

Your marriage will only improve if you BOTH put effort into it.

Like others have said, try therapy or counseling.

If therapy or counseling do not help, then you have to decisions to make.
