You form a habit to eat something good. That way when pressed for time or otherwise, you don't make poor decisions and eat like some sugary shit or fast food or skip them altogether. Although fasting is beneficial.standardize your first meal? What is the reasoning?

The thing that is common with any weight gain is the mixture of fats and carbs.I think if people avoided or reduced sugar - just that one thing - it wouldn't be prefect, but it would be one hell of an improvement.
Then refined carbs.

I agree with your list except no salt (we do need some sodium) and no potatoes. Potatoes get a bad rap. The reason they cause weight gain is really because of how people prepare them i.e. baked with sour cream, mashed with butter, french fries.... I roast baby potatoes with olive oil and rosemary.This is the diet I'm doing staying away from the white stuff
