You form a habit to eat something good. That way when pressed for time or otherwise, you don't make poor decisions and eat like some sugary shit or fast food or skip them altogether. Although fasting is beneficial.

Sometimes auto piliot mode just makes things that much easier.

Being in this field, I see this all the time. Good intentions & bad advice. In nutrition, context is king.

example…he’s telling ppl to load up on fiber. What if someone has IBS or an autoimmune? That’ll wreck their gut.

Then standardize the first meal? Most adults eat like 12 year old kids. So each sugary cereal or “healthy” cereal at 7am every day? Garbage.

I hate giving out blanket advice but heres one piece of advice that will help literally 80% of ppl. Make sure at least 90% of your food intake is from whole foods & not refined crap.

that “Perfect plate” is BS too. All that starch would murder me.

More people need to eat more meat & less refined food.

I think if people avoided or reduced sugar - just that one thing - it wouldn't be prefect, but it would be one hell of an improvement.

Then refined carbs.

Most diets I think actually agree on this.

The thing that is common with any weight gain is the mixture of fats and carbs.
If you only eat one you will lose weight, and I'd argue that fats are more important than carbs.
Of course people have different bodies and metabolism so it varies. There is no one single diet that will work for absolutely everyone.

this last year i gained 30 pounds with worrying about COVID. , so in 2 months I've lost 22 pounds. I really am not deprived of much if I really feel like sugar I'll go for sweet fruit. If I'm wanting rice I'll go with wild /brown rice or quinoa. However there is one thing I use that has sugar in it Greek yogurt i put ranch seasoning in it to dip my vegetables in it as opposed to ranch dressing. The weight is just coming off with this snack that I munch on during the course of a day.

no white pasta
no potato
no white bread
I agree with your list except no salt (we do need some sodium) and no potatoes. Potatoes get a bad rap. The reason they cause weight gain is really because of how people prepare them i.e. baked with sour cream, mashed with butter, french fries.... I roast baby potatoes with olive oil and rosemary. 🙂

A friend of mine told me recently to eat plain, cold baked potatoes. It's mentioned here:

Fructose behaves very similar to alcohol on the liver, except there isnt a very obvious sign of the damage like when you get drunk.

Agree with you on the salt. Salt is literally a performance enhancer. We blame salt for what sugar did.

the human body has a simple way to get rid of excess salt but no mechanism to deal with too little sodium.
