I'm pulling for the Islanders in the other series. Matt Martin played a regular shift until late in the 3rd and scored a goal (the winning goal?).

not always sure...

Matt Martin did score the winning goal! When was the last time you saw a player with no visor play that role?
The two series are amazing; some of most exciting, high-quality hockey I've seen.
Entertainment value 10+++.

Has anyone noticed that Luke Schenn is still in the NHL as the Lightning’s 7th defenseman?

What went wrong with Schenn’s career? He’s a former No. 1 draft pick for the Leafs and seemed to be off to a good start until he left the Leafs?

You answered your own question.

But in all seriousness. He was always slow but very physical which is what got him drafted. Also more NHL ready than the other 3 d-men drafted before him. One of which was Zack Bogosian who was are 7th defenseman and has pretty much had a similar career to Schenn.

I believe that Schenn was traded for JVR, who performed pretty well for the Leafs while he was here.

Wow! There's a real possibility that the Islanders with the 3 ex-Leafs (Lamoriello, Komarov and Martin) could be in the Finals. Imagine that.

Anyone else noticing the excessive amount of cross-checking in the back going on? Seems ridiculous that virtually none of it is being called unless it happens to drive the checked player face-first into the boards from behind. In front of the net though, it's a damn free-for-all. I like the rough aspects of the game, but cross-checking in the back or across the upper arms from the side just seems like a cheap shot.
So here we are. I knew we'd get here eventually. Mayfield cross-checks Kucherov in the back and forces him out of a crucial Game 6. Questionable to start Game 7. WTF is wrong with the league and its referees? How many more 'Kucherovs' will there need to be before the league cracks down on this stuff? And the players are no angels either - cross checking each other in the back game after game, never worrying they might be ending/shortening someone's career. This could be an injury that significantly affects the series and ultimately the playoffs. Why is there not more of a public outcry from the fans? <SMH>

Any penalties the refs call are after the fact when the damage has already been done. There has to be deterrence in place to stop these kinds of assaults before they happen. (And it's not the frontier justice that some TERBites support. Obviously, the threat of retaliation is insufficient and the players policing themselves is a fallacy.)

I blame the league and the NHLPA, and probably even the NHLPA more so.

Whenever the league imposes a suspension, no matter how egregious the infraction was, the PA always lobbies to decrease the suspension. They never support the injured player even though he is as much a member of the PA as the perp. It's hard to understand their mentality.

As to the league, they should definitely increase the sanctions that can be taken against the perp. Double digit game suspensions should be a routine minimum. However, I am not sure if, according to the collective bargaining agreement, that the PA has to approve any changes to maximum suspensions/fines before they can be instituted.

$3200 per ticket in Montreal for game 3. Feel sorry for Habs fans who bought tickets for game 4.

Why would you feel sorry?

At least they will be in the same building as the Stanley Cup - Leafs fans have not been able to say that since 1967 (the HHOF does not count)
The Cup will be presented in Tampa Bay. Bolts want to win in front of their fans.

Regardless of the Leafs, the vaunted Canadiens will not have won a cup in 28 years. That is shameful for them. What is the longest that they've gone between cups?
