That lesbian story line was so forced. It was an obvious attempt to get some of that PC love that got Shit creek so much fame. I am sure if Shit Creek instead had a guy in a wheelchair they would have a truck run over one of the main leads to put him or her in a chair. Granted having a truck run over you in South Korea if the Kdramas are right is just another Tuesday but still.
Janet went through art school without showing one iota of wanting to share a cup with another girl and then all of a sudden, the gae. If they were laying down some references or hints or something, it would be fine. Whatever.
Thankfully I was just watching the last few seasons out of habit, it went from being really good to being anywhere from meh to annoying.
The problem is, like all sitcoms. they run out of story lines, which often leads to terrible character development and desperate story lines. I can handle poor story lines, just don't change the god damn character. Recognize the fact that show is doing well because of the characters they are, not the characters your going to make them become. Stick with what got you to the dance.
A perfect example of this was Big Bang Theory. I don't understand how anyone who thought the first 4 seasons were good, could possible even like the last 8 seasons. It was a completely different show by then, especially in case of Howard Wolowitz. What made the guy so funny, was the fact he was this skinny, nerdy, unattractive Jewish aerospace engineer living with his mom, that was socially awkward, but perverted and creepy and kind of the wannabe bad ass of the group. The funniest thing about him was the length that he would go to score with chicks. or when he got rejected by them. So what did they do with his character??? They fucking marry the guy. In a flash, everything that was funny about him was gone.
