You did not claim it was the cause of her death, Mr. "Know" it all did. Did it contribute maybe like .00000003 %, sure but Covid contributed 100%.
I only said it was a likely contributor and if 78% of covid deaths are among those who are obese, the chances are obviously far greater than .000003%

First science, then statistics. You're ignoring both.

She died of COVID and her weight didn’t help her chances. I agree with that. But she still did die of COVID. No COVID. No death right now.
Alternatively no obesity, covid, no death?

Too bad political correctness entered the discussion off the hop. Mentioning obesity as a factor because a kid died is wrong. No it's not. The science is clear.

So while everyone debates the effects of Covid has on obese people there is another factor for the high rate of Covid in Brampton.
A lot of homes are built very close together and there are many multi generational families living in those homes. This is due to many immigrants pooling their money for shelter. The grandparents stay at home and go grocery shopping. The kids go to school and the kids parents go to work at the many warehouses and trucking firms in Brampton.
Now just imagine the number of people that house hold comes in contact with over the course of the week. Don't forget to include talking to neighbours, friends, places of worship.
Think about that.
Now think about how many people you come into contact with over the course of the week.
There is truth to what you're saying. The high numbers are being driven by workers bringing it home to family members where masking and social distancing is impossible.

She still could have died with COVID if she was thin. Did being overweight help her chances? No

I’m strictly talking dying now. This week that she died. She would still be obese but without COVID she would still be alive right now. Tomorrow she could have died in a car accident. Who knows. But for the purpose of this discussion, no COVID right now means no death right now.

I hope that made sense. LOL

Obese people are among the most vulnerable and should have been among the first in line to receive the vaccine along with the elderly.
If you look at the requirements for vaccines you will see they are included but hey, don't let facts go by!

Mr.Knowitall/TJ logic, I'm taking in the cookoo joo joo and here we go

Jen, you do realize if she was thinner the car would have handled better? Less steering lag and a quicker throttle response may have helped her escape the deadly accident.

Yes you're making sense.

I'm merely suggesting that good diet and health reduces risk. Covid and other nasty diseases exist and they prey on people that are vulnerable - poor immunity etc. If the 78% of people that died of covid had not been obese, they are more likely to have survived.

This should be a wakeup call for better health but it won't be because it's not political

I get you.

I think this pandemic should be a wake up call for a lot of things. Physical health, mental health, financial health.

But that is a debate for another thread. LOL

Do you work out regularly, eat right, keep an eye on calories in calories out? Is your waistline under 34? If you wear a tight t-shirt would folks think, hey look at that guy with bitch tits or that dude has decent pecs? It's easy to talk but the majority do not walk the talk!

Weight is hard. I have medical conditions that don’t help me in managing my weight. They hinder me.

I have had life grow in me and change my body completely.

Lockdown made it harder for some people.

I admit, sometimes I am lazy too. I’m human. I’m not perfect. I emotionally eat sometimes as well. It is a struggle.

It's called child abuse. I hope you're treating your own children better. Good health in their formative years pays dividends later on.
Over 80% of hospitalizations are obese people. She also had pneumonia.

Life isnt without risks, a strong immune system is always the best defense. Cant do that when gyms are closed, fast food is open.

As predicted MSM will continue the fear mongering for the sheep to eat it allll up.
I bet you both are genetic freaks eh? You both run a mile without breaking a sweat, climb a set of stairs without huffing and puffing??? Never ever eat that donut or that huge bucket of fried chicken eh?

MrKnowItal, sorry dude, no kids here. Nephews and nieces only and yes, I do preach a healthy life style but that doesn't mean I fluff off someones passing with COVID with reaching for reasons to downplay covid unless of course, it's an anti masker or anti vaxers then I say, good on COVID!

This is a example of using an extreme outlier to push a political position.

Data from Peel shows 99.7% of C-19 patients in their 20's are never in hospital let alone ICU.

Deaths less than 1 per 10,000 = 0.0091%

Obesity did not kill her, Covid did. Why is this so hard for you to wrap your head around?

Let me see if I can dumb this down for you....

if you have a .999999% risk of dying of Covid, and obesity raises that risk by another .0000006%, YOU STILL DIED FROM COVID. The actual virus is still the main factor, no matter how much you want to try to make it weight. If she had not gotten Covid, she would have lived. Period.

Refer to drewstar's post above for clarity on the math.
