Entirely correct - he's a 33 year old two month rental, so a first round draft pick for a shot.

The one thing we know for certain in a weak north division are the number of teams that would NOT be playoff contenders in any normal division in any normal year:

Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, probably not Montreal who would at best by fighting for a wildcard spot, and I don't think Edmonton because of inconsistency, defence and goaltending.
Winnipeg would be fighting for a wildcard vs. divisional 3rd spot.

Then there's the Leafs who haven't had to play a solid defensive team all year.... so they look good, don't they?
How do we know for certain that the North is a weak division. All we know for certain is that you don’t know the meaning of certainty.

Nobody plays any other divisions.

We don't.
No one does.
The semi-finals will show some things, but not absolutes.
Hockey is a sport like no other, puck luck determines a lot.

If the Cubs can win the WS, why not the Leafs? They no longer have an excuse not to.
yes they do have the gift of getting to the final four, more or less handed to them. they should come out on top in that div. if your giving up 4 or more goals to teams like ott and mont, you need to tighten it up. i like the foligno signing, would love to have him on my team.

David Rittich with the start in goal tonight.
Apparently, also in the lineup: Scott Sabourin.

Team played much better and lucky to gran a point. Nice debut for Rittich even with the lose. I would put him in again against the Jets.

Leafs had seen enough of what Hutch can't do. Didn't want to take a chance to have to see it again. For those asking why Leafs carried 3 goalies to start the season Hutch playing 8 of 43 games should answer why they got Rittich. Campbell may still be playing injured or he may be one stretch save away from being injured again. Even if Andersen comes back for the playoffs who knows what they'll get in him. There's no way they want Hutch playing any playoff games.

And yet something tells me Hutch will be in a game only because of an emergency.

Perception is an interesting thing.

David Rittich has a career .908 save percentage thru 130 appearances in the NHL.
Michael Hutchinson has a .906 save percentage thru 135 NHL appearances.

Indeed, so far we've only seen Rittich play lights out versus Toronto. Those matching career stats shows he has some Hutch like doozies in him.

Nick Robertson has cleared Covid~19 protocols and is at practice.
William Nylander is still in protocol situation, continues to test negative.

Speaking of Nick Robertson, he has an older brother Jason a rookie with Dallas who has 23 pts in his last 24 games.
Jason is 21 and Nick is 19
