Word is they are trying to acquire Josh Manson from ANA. It will cost Sandin plus a 2nd I think.Dubas is making good on his promise to make this team harder to play against. Foligno brings grit and character that should help the playoff run. Beats getting another 5’ 9” in the Nick Petan mode that Dubas used to like to add. Would be nice to see more similar grit added to the defence though.
Manson is 4.1 million for next year too...if it doesn’t mess up their cap Leafs should do it.Word is they are trying to acquire Josh Manson from ANA. It will cost Sandin plus a 2nd I think.
Who's paying the other 25%?We have a trade to announce:
The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Nick Foligno & Stephan Nosen.
The Maple Leafs give up a 1st round pick and 2 4th round selections.
It appears that Columbus will retain 50% of Foligno's salary, San Jose will retain 50% of the remaining salary.
The Maple Leafs will be on the hook for 25% of Foligno's remaining salary.
No, I don't. I think Noesen's inclusion was to take some money off San Jose's books.Do you figure Noesen cracks the Leafs lineup?.......I'm thinking he's just spare parts.
Culumbus traded him to San Jose first and ate 50% ... the max allowed. Then San Jose traded him to Toronto and ate 50% of their obligation (so San Jose is eating 25% as well).Who's paying the other 25%?
At the bargain price of a first round draft pick you'll be able to enjoy him on our team for a full two months.I like this trade for Toronto. I have always been a Foligno fan.
Got it, after re-reading your post another four times. LOLWhy, that would be Toronto.
I'm sure Dubas did look around and this is the best he could do...Rittich is a veteran goalie who is pretty good and giving up a 3rd is reasonable.I'm ok with Foligno because he's something they don't have, but Rittich for a 3rd? Guys his caliber were going for a 7th or should be available on the waiver wire. They just threw away a relatively high pick for something they already have (Woll, Scott, Vehvilainen). Treliving is a horrible GM and took Dubas to the wood shed on this one.
It's not likely Woll will be brought back, and VV hasn't played a game since they got him a month ago. Right now, next year looks like Soupy and Rittich, with Hutch, Scott, and maybe VV with the M's. And Scott has only played 2 pro games up to now, so sending him to the Growlers could be the plan.I'm ok with Foligno because he's something they don't have, but Rittich for a 3rd? It's all predicated on how close they think they are at real shot.At the bargain price of a first round draft pick you'll be able to enjoy him on our team for a full two months.
