Wonder if a guy that size has more stress on his heart or just hereditary? Seemed to be very well liked.

There's a saying: You don't see any old giants.

He wasn't a giant but he was a very big guy. RIP

One of those generational things but my Old Man would always have a smile brought to his face when Schultz was on the screen. It was a Hogan's Heroes thing.

I saw him waiting at a crosswalk when I was driving once. He was a huge guy

I believe many basketball players are still around, their joints mostly go. Schultz looked to always be in good shape. Never heard if he ever had heart issues before this.

Good point about the BB players. But that was an actual quote that I'd heard. Maybe after Andre the Giant died.

Schultz slimmed down nicely after his playing days. Even in a suit you could tell that he was fit.

That's too bad.
I really enjoyed watching him, he came across as a really genuine guy.

Andre had a condition called gigantism where he never stopped growing, I believe his organs kept growing. I believe a young death was a certainty for him, maybe why he partied so much.

I enjoyed his media persona. Came across as a nice guy. TSN had a nice tribute to him.

Andre never took care of himself either. Heavy drinker and I believe he smoked too. I'm sure his diet wasn't all that healthy. Big Show is still alive and he takes good care of his health.

Big show doesn't have gigantism, big difference. Not sure how you compare someone with a health issue since birth to someone who doesn't, makes no sense.

Big Show had gigantism and got surgery for it. Andre could've done the same but also could've lived a bit longer had he taken better care of himself.

I knew Chris well for a few years in the late 80's and early 90's..

We broke bread and worked out together at the local Gold's Gym more than a few times.

He used to leave Argos tickets at the will call down at the then Skydome for me and my lady. It was great sitting at the 50 yard line about 5 rows up with the players wives and families.

I liked Chris but he was an enigma to most who knew him. He had his quirks and foibles that's for sure. But then we all do.

The comments that he was a gentle giant for the most part are true but he had another side to him as well.

A friend of mine was his designated driver for a few years. He was a regular at Treasures and loved to hang out there.

Last time I saw him was in 2007. At of course a peeler joint. We shook hands and talked for about 20 minutes. I remember telling him how much I was impressed with how well he was doing on the desk analyzing the games. He told me of the hours of preparation that he had to do before each game. That didn't surprise me. He always strived to be the best at what he did.

The tributes to him were touching and hit perfectly on the Chris I knew on his best days. He will be missed.......
