Actually, the Southern Democrats fought, tooth and nail, against desegregation. And right now, the "white supremacy" only exists in the minds of the lefties. Not only the Trump led Republican Party became the party of the working class, but it made an concentrated push to reach the racialized communities. Hence the "white supremacy" panic among the Democrats.
And nowadays it's the Republicans trying to reverse things and limit access to voters in mainly black communities.

Madness!!!

Classic Dr. Seuss books are flying off the shelves at Amazon after the late author’s publisher moved to stop printing six titles containing “hurtful” imagery, driving up sales for one work by a staggering 5.7 million percent.

A decision by Dr. Seuss Enterprises to scrap the six books on Tuesday over what it called “hurtful and wrong” stereotypes appears to have sparked a buying frenzy on the e-retail giant, with the defunct ‘McElligot's Pool’ surging to the top spot on Amazon’s “Movers & Shakers” section. At the time of writing, the page showed that sales for the book were up by 5,785,593 percent over the last 24 hours, while ‘If I Ran the Zoo’ – another nixed work – was up by more than 835,000 percent.

Reading closer it seems they aren't being "cancelled" at all.
They just aren't being taken for another printing, which happens to books all the time.

So-called "cancel culture" isn't just the politically correct variety.

Conservatives in the US, for example, have been practising "cancel culture" for eons -- long before the term "cancel culture" ever became popular.

Rock music, gay rights, women's rights, equal rights for minorities, workers' rights and a secular society are all example of things American conservatives have fought pretty hard to "cancel".
You need to have something before it can be cancelled.

No, but the far-right in the US sure tried hard to do so. And your commentary about the US Republican Party ending slavery, while true, is at the same time an extremely weak argument.

If you knew your history, which you apparently don't, 155 years ago the US Republican party was a party for national unity, whilst America's Democrat party was largely made up of pro-slavery Southern Democrats. After the US Civil War, the Democrat Party swept the southern states due to the Republicans being the "party of Lincoln" that ended slavery.

Throughout most of the 20th century, the Southern US continued to support the Democrats, which had become a party largely embraced by the poor and the working classes. In 1964 Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, signed the Civil Rights Act, which effectively ended any support from white southerners the Democrats had.

The Republican Party saw an opportunity to win votes by appealing to southerners' racism and launched the Southern Strategy to do so -- and they succeeded.

So, in short, comparing America's Republican Party of today with America's Republican Party of 155 years ago is absolutely ridiculous and shows you don't have a clue of what you're talking about.
It was a party for "national unity"? LOL!

So let me understand this.

So far, Cancel Culture consists of:

1. Fabulously wealthy right wing Disney execs firing Gina Carano for posting antisocial anti-mask and stop the steal bullshit to avoid controversy and keep making huge $$$$.
2. Fabulously wealthy right wing Dr Seuss heirs discontinuing 6 of his several dozen books to avoid controversy and keep making huge $$$$.
3. Fabulously wealthy right wing Hasbro de-dicking Mr Potato Head to avoid controversy and keep making huge $$$$.
4. Faboulously wealthy right wing syrup people abolishing the tiny photo of Aunt Jemima on its syrup bottles to avoid controversy and keep making huge $$$$.

How is any of this the fault of the Dems?

And how will electing Trump and the GOP - aka the party that kisses ass to big business - stop any of cancel culture happening?

Would Trump personally have flown to wherever Hasbro has its HQ and begged for Mr PH to get his dick back? Is doing that important enough to interfere w his 50 hours of golf and TV per week?

Here's what I suggest: - That Donnie - now unemployed and his unfathomably vast leadership talents unused - appoint himself the "Official Mr Potato Head Re-Dicker" and that he travel to whatever large, rich and powerful mega transnational conglomerate is going to cancel culture any of its products and BEG ON HIS KNEES that they do not do that. The Donald will pour Aunt Jemima syrup over himself - from the authentic culture-offensive bottles, of course - while Eric (dressed as Mr Potato Head with a massive phallus) and Donnie Jr (dressed as the Cat in the Hat) parade around with placards saying "Say No to Keyboard SJW's"!

Point of fact the official US Govt propaganda films in WWII were particularly racist on the Japanese and Dr Seuss and Frank Capra etc were all involved in these "Why we fight" productions. I remember one racist line being "Tojo and his buck-toothed pals" ...

First, you're right, Southern Democrats did fight tooth and nail against desegregation. That's why they switched parties and joined the GOP. Strom Thurmond, who was once a "Dixiecrat" but a Democrat Senator until....1964, when he switched to the GOP. And why? He was against desegregation. Sounds like you believe a hack like Dinesh D'Souza and his incredibly inaccurate books and films. There is a long historical record showing Southern Democrats jumping to the GOP as Kennedy/Johnson pushed through the civil rights laws.

As for the second part of you statement...that white supremacy is only in the minds of lefties??? Seriously? It's all around us. I'm a white man, and I sure as hell can see it. Just look at incarceration rates for POC in both Canada & the US. Massive discrepancy. That's white supremacy. Look at how often cops kill or harass POC when they're unarmed? Yes, whites can be treated poorly by the police, but again, anyone with half a brain can see POC & whites are treated much differently. Now, look at all the states that are trying to pass new voting laws that would make it harder for minorities to vote. Sure, some white people would also be impacted, but by and large, these proposed laws do nothing but suppress voting from POC. Tell me how that isn't white supremacy?

Finally....the GOP is the party of the working class? That is total BS. What have they done to help the working class? They slashed taxes that predominantly helped the wealthy, they oppose raising the minimum wage, they treat the working poor with nothing but disdain. I mean, how many McDonald's and Walmart employees are forced to live on food stamps because these companies pay so poorly.

Basically, the GOP cannot govern. Their only tools are tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. They hate "big government" so when they take power they fuck it up, leaving the Democrats to come in and clean up the mess. I can show you all sorts of examples, like the Kansas Experiment, where the GOP led legislature slashed income taxes, saying it would create new revenue and jobs. Did not happen. In fact, it got so bad they had to repeal it all because they couldn't afford to fix critical infrastructure.

I'm just curious how you have racist content in books who's characters consist of animals and fantasy species that don't even exist. The article doesn't really give any examples.

But hey, I guess the Whos in Whoville were kinda racist towards the Grinch. But then again, through out the history of our world, the Grinch race has always had to face oppression and racism, while Who privilege keeps them in power.

................And common sense dies just a little more.

The pandemic was roaring. We were too sick to open.

We were too sick for boatin', we were too sick for mopin',

But I still felt a longing, built up in my scrotum.

I felt quite the longing, not shorting, nor tall.

Quite the longing, my children, to empty my balls.

I said, "How I wish, how I wish I could nut.

I wish I could nut, how I wish for a slut.

I wish for a slut, with a fantabulous butt

It could be in a hut, but not a shut hut.

A hut with my eyes wide shut for a slut.

A cut of the bread for this slut, I would strut

Straight down to town hall, with my balls for this slut!"

And wouldn't you know, the world it did listen

For soon came a lady with her rump-a-dump glistening.

A dame of the night, and her dress was quite tight

I could see from the looks that it used to be white

But that wouldn't quite matter when I turn out the lights.

The hut was the venue; the slut had a menu

A menu of venues while this ingenue's in you

She said "We could do it in China or Rome.

My vagina has called quite a lot of spots 'home'.

But please put your cock down, because of this lock down

We'll be quite discrete, you'll complete in this dock town.

So I offer a choice of a number of places, three places, not four.

Not four, for this whore, but just three, just three places for me.

For ten measly ducats, we can poke on the grass.

But for three times as much, a sofa under my ass.

But for just twenty more," said that spry, funny whore,

"For just twenty more, there's a bed I adore!"

Well I am a man of great taste and distinction.

A gentleman of class, when I go to completion.

So I pulled out my cash from my stash in the dash,

A big wad of cash that I mashed for this lass.

"Here's a clean fifty, how nifty indeed!"

She grinned ear to ear, and prepared for my seed.

"In this time of need, you exhibit no greed!

So I'll give you no sass, you're a man of great class!"

With a smile for this lass, I passed the house fast.

"Class my ass, my dear lass, I want it five times on the grass."
no i did not write this, yes i stole it off the interwebs

You should try living in America, I have in a couple of states, then you can tell me who can and cannot govern.

It looks like you might be giving this too much thought mandrilled.

The pressure that is being exerted on these corporations isn’t coming from the left? Give your head a shake

It‘s a little disturbing at how much you guys think about the male members of the Trump family in a sexual manner.

It’s becoming apparent that the members around here that change their font frequently are a bit touched. I guess you need to standout somehow. Would be nice if you did it with humor or original thought as opposed to font color selection
