No I get it. You find it hard to breathe through fabric so you have the mistaken belief that it can suffocate you.

It's not possible. The worst that could happen (for people with normal lung function) is you can have a panic attack because you feel your breathing is off.

As I said, there are numerous studies on blood oxygen levels of people with masks and masks/respirators don't make any significant impact.
No, you don`t get it, and obviously you never will.
You think most of the breathed air is going through the mask and I think most of the air is going around the mask.
I think most masks are more shield than filter, unless it is a respirator.

Take your mask and just hold it tightly over your mouth and try to blow air through it.
It is very hard to do so why would you think that air is easily flowing through it when you breath.
I think the bulk of the air being breathed is going around the masks.
My point is that I believe the bulk of the air that we breath is not going through (filtered) the masks.
If it is very difficult to blow air through a mask, it doesn`t make sense to think the air is freely going through the mask when we breath.
The path of least resistance is not through the mask
The three-ply masks, which may be flat pleated or cone shaped, are not designed to protect against infections from viruses and bacteria but rather to prevent contamination of sterile surgical sites and to prevent blood and other fluids from splashing onto the wearer’s mouth and nose.

Right. Because science will never get it. Do you realize there is a difference between your anecdotal observations and actual measurements?

Plenty of tests have been done with masks from surgical masks to properly fitted N95s and there is no evidence they cause blood oxygen levels decrease.

How many doctors and nurses have passed out from lack of oxygen when spending hours wearing a properly fitted N95?

Are you just pretending to be thick?

If not, please get someone to explain the meaning of my post for you.
It has nothing to do with blood oxygen levels.

How do you see anything to do with blood oxygen levels in this?

Umm.

If the mask edges were air tight, I would suffocate very quickly.
You talked about suffocating with masks. Last I checked, that happens when your brain doesn't get enough oxygen so it seems pretty reasonable to look at how much oxygen gets to your brain.

That was simply hypothetical for illustrative purposes to highlight that the path of least resistance for the air is not through the mask.
It was not the point.

My point has nothing to do with a lack of air.
It has to do with the path the bulk of the air takes, through the mask or around the mask.

I cannot state my point any more clearly so you are a complete waste of my time.

You completely missed my point.
I am not talking about blocking droplets, of that I have no doubt.
I am talking about how much protection masks offer the wearer.
No, I understood your point, I clicked on the wrong post, I meant to click on one of Basketcases and clicked yours instead.
To your point there was a study as to the effectiveness of non medical masks as protection against covid.
When I have more time I will find it and post the link but if I remember correctly protection against airborne droplets was around 30%.
You have to remember that you can also contract covid by touching your face with contaminated hands when not wearing a mask as well.
It is a combination of practices that prevents transmission and infection.
Wearing a mask has been put at a reduction of 70% in transmission over 2 ft.
Staying 6 ft apart, and personal hygene combined with wearing a mask keeps you from transmitting or getting infected.

I get it. You write things you don't mean. Sorry for not being able to read your mind.

Maybe you were right.
Perhaps I have a secret fear of accidentally gluing my mask to my face and being unable to do anything about it.
