Well, they may ditch him. Or he may have so much power in the industry that he's an asshole, but an asshole they have to work with. And that's sometimes how life works.
That's how illustrating hypocrisy works.
If A does some action and is canceled, why is B not cancelled when B does the same action as A.
Voicing, or posting, your opinion is much different than keeping it in your head (a thought). It's actually a simple concept to grasp, for most.
Problem is that most people strongly DON'T believe that COVID is a hoax or that Trump was cheated of an election.
If she didn't say shit which most people believe is incorrect, foolish and offensive, she'd still be working.
Hollywood is a stinky place rife with nepotism.
The producers manage the money but they don't decide which projects get financed. At the very top are a cabal of hedge fund managers specific to the entertainment industry, they provide insurance for the major studios. And if a smash hit comes along, they allocate funds for art house projects.
However if you happen to be related to one of these money men, you have free reign to do what you want and bomb to your heat's content. I haven't found out how much Stephen Knight (Locke, Peaky Blinders,Taboo) is getting paid to write the screenplay for Spencer. It appears to be a closely guarded secret.

Mel Gibson got cancelled because of his drinking and abusive phone calls to his ex. Other actors - far more talented and important than Carano - also had their careers wrecked.
That's exactly what it is. Once it is expressed verbally, online or on paper it is no longer simply in your head. It is out there for all to see. Therein lies the danger.

Disney waited on the decision from the hedge fund managers on Carano's fate. They gave a direct order to fire her, it also means she's blackballed, she can never work in Hollywood again. Her timing is downright awful, had the Capitol Hill Riot not happened, she still could have auditioned for other roles.
Shapiro is playing her by exhibiting her as the "star" of his movie - that will never be made. AFAIK he has no Hollywood connections and you have to know people and have a rep in the town to get your project made. It's the ultimate insider's industry.
She can't carry a project. So billing her as a star is pointless. The real actors who can carry a script will stay away - and doubly so because she's Hollywood poison.
And she's blackballed. So no one will touch it for that reason as well.
At best, it gets made quick and cheap for a couple of mill as some sort of cable low budget piece of unwatchable shit.
What makes you think that Disney didn't warn her while this whole thing was going on? What makes you think that any media personality like Don Cherry, Bill Maher, Bill O'Reilly, Lou Dobbs, etc. were not warned before being fired? Unless Carano presents proof and sues Disney for wrongful dismissal, then your statement is false. I think it's reasonable to assume that she was warned multiple times to watch her behavior online. Clearly, this depends on specific labor laws (if they apply to actors), her contracts with her agency and Disney and ability to sue.
She pushed her luck more than once and was justly fired for it. Her life isn't over as so many like to put it. She'll likely not work in Hollywood for a long time, but that doesn't mean that she can't work at all. She probably started talking with The Daily Wire months ago. She is from the generation that is used to looking for another job if they sense their current one is going south.
Actually, his company The Daily Wire is trying to get into the entertainment business. They did distribute a movie called Run, Hide, Fight (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_Hide_Fight) that was shown on their platform and YouTube apparently. I don't know if they had anything to do with making the movie though.
He'll probably make some money doing this, but it will be a niche play.
