That article is hogwash and full of gibberish and embellishments like your posts. He listed one guy who mentioned taxes and also media scrutiny. You said earlier Crosby would pay 3x the tax, now he's paying 40% plus, more gibberish from you. Price, webber love it there, subban was devastated at being traded. The article said the players paid 49% of the income to taxes in Montreal, Crosby is paying 40% now. Players don't care about 10%, only the misinformed do, they play where theyre most comfortable.
What, you don’t like an article that proves you’re wrong? Wow, I never seen that coming...

You’re right they will play where they are comfortable...I bet most don’t wanna play in one of the leagues coldest city and learn a new language.

It was good for Nate Thompson...

That article is westhead being westhead. Hes a national enquirer type journalist. There is nothing in that article other than his opinion. Not a single player specifically stating they didn't go there because of taxes.

Learn a new language, lol. Not a single non French player has ever needed to learn French, some chose to. Koivu tried but said fuck it. Another false statement. Over half the teams are in cold cities. Explain the 3x the tax also, another false statement.

Of course they’re not gonna say...who wants to be known as a selfish and greedy athlete who gets paid millions but still complains about it.

What about the 3x the tax quote you stated? According to you Crosby pay 16.5 % tax?

It was an over exaggerated comment to emphasize that he would be paying more tax in Montreal than Pittsburgh.

Like when I say my IQ is 3x higher than yours I don’t really mean it’s 3x higher, it’s just way higher than yours.

So it was a false statement to attempt to prove a point? When that didn't work you tried the cold weather and language angle, even though hockey is a cold weather sport and Crosby grew up in a cold weather climate. Another false statement was that players needed to learn French to play there?

No, he would pay more in taxes in Montreal than Pittsburgh...that is absolutely correct.

It's tough to rebuild when you have few prospects and no draft picks. Rutherford took "Draft Schmaft" to a whole new level.

They could get a haul for Malkin & Letang and the 2022 & 2023 entry drafts are loaded.

The Jays always have a harder time getting free agents to come here and one of the reasons is higher taxes. The Jays have to make compensations.

Wrong, the usa has a high earner federal tax of 39.6% plus state taxes on top of that. California athletes pay 50% plus in income tax. Other players pay 39.6% plus a jock tax for the states they play games in. Most athletes pay well into 40% tax rate in the usa. Plus there is a usa Canada tax treaty where the players only pay taxes for the days they are in Canada, it involves some kind of 183 day rule. The athletes over taxed in Canada is a myth spread by the uninformed (you). US players like playing in their own country, tax differences are miniscule.

I guess all those news reports were wrong.

American taxes are significantly lower than Canadian taxes. 😅 😅 😅 😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪(y)(y)(y)o_Oo_Oo_O;););):sleep::sleep::unsure::unsure::unsure::poop::poop::poop:

Good work on the spelling.

Man, this is a cranky thread. It clearly needs my informed and infallible opinion tossed in.

Moving is a PITA. Sydney doesn't have to move, and he likes where he lives.

Don't worry about facts. Your argument that players don't come here because of tax is simply false. You don't even know how it works, they are taxed for the days they are here. Do you even know what a tax treaty is?

They better get moving trading those two, their contracts expire at the end of the 2021-22 season.
There's also that pesky NMC in Malkin's contract to deal with, Letang has a limited NTC in his agreement.
Malkin turns 35 before next season will start, Letang 34 before this season ends.
Both have played their entire careers with the Penguins.

Funny you brought up Draft Schmaft, those are the words that popped into my head as I read this article....
