Anyone with a brain left HK already, those who are still there are the dumbasses.
Correct if you are talking only about the anti-China
fraction of HongKongers which means a large proportion of the
young people there. A lot of mainland Chinese would die to
move down to HK. In fact HK is also a popular destination for
'refugees' from various regions in South East Asia. The PRC
would love to see more migrants from mainland to settle in
HK to replace those coming here to take advantage of our new
immigrant policy towards visa students from HK. That way they
can turn HK into another city of China in a one-country-one-system.

I'm sure this new policy will be welcome by HK visa students.
They will be happy to return to their home town once they secure
the Canadian citizenship.

People on this site and in society toss the term racism around like it's a frisbee so it's really losing its meaning a bit (some ppl see racism in everything and everywhere...even when it's not there).
So true, some people love to get on their soap box and cry racism with any excuse.

So, Canada's merit immigration system must also be racist to them.

Totally ridiculous statement. Being accepted on merit is the antithesis to being accepted because of race.

You obviously don't know what racist means.

I see you are back to promoting racial stereotypes.

So you feel that this is better than allowing immigrants from African or South Asian communities?
It's selective too.

If he reported on British Columbia crime, it wouldn't fit his narrative.

Honest question here...is it racist to prefer immigrants from certain parts of the world based on their abilities/willingness to assimilate and based on their potential success in helping the country's economy? People on this site and in society toss the term racism around like it's a frisbee so it's really losing its meaning a bit (some ppl see racism in everything and everywhere...even when it's not there). But to my eye, some immigrants seem to mesh better in Canada and other countries than other groups. They are my preference for immigrants. Is that racist or personal preference?
It sounds like you don't know very many immigrants, you are just stereotyping based on news reports.

Yes, immigrants that come with money tend to do better. Our society is set up in a way that we need a disposable labor force though. I have been around HK Chinese and Punjabi Sikhs most of my life, and they are considered "desirable" immigrants. However, they are just bad as EVERYONE else.

Article about how the points system (like the one in Canada) favours some groups but not other groups.

Basic outline of Canada's points system. Language and education are highly valued.

Because Canada won't win a game of hardball with China.

The same politicians you are supporting against China are the same ones selling the country bit by bit to them.

First, who said I was supporting anyone?

I can agree with some things while disagreeing and not supporting others. I don’t agree with a lot of what Canada does, business wise with China. I think it should stop. I think, based on this pandemic, we should be looking at being more Self-sufficient.

But I also personally think it is best to speak out about these things.

If this forces us to start to stop business, etc with them, then good. Canada should not be supporting China in one fashion all while China is doing what they are to its citizens.
