It appears more SPs now showing full frontal face in ads

I'm not sure I follow. How would US Homeland Security know a Canadian woman was an escort if she did not disclose her face in her adverts? Almost all of the escorts use aliases.

You seem to be saying that escorts reveal their faces because they have been stopped at the U.S. border for being an escort and now everyone knows. Still don't follow.
HS have many ways of identifying that a SW is in fact a SW. It's not all about facial recognition tied to a published online presence, evn though those technologies in can fact identify you with a very high degree of certainty even if you blur your face, through other attributes. Add to that patterns of behaviour, possessions going across the border, review of banking information, lifestyle, etc... It is really getting very very hard for SWs to keep their work secret from government agencies as tech advances. Of course, once they tag/label you as an undesirable for reasons of prostitution, they share that information with many other entities which invariably encroach on their private lives in the most inconvenient and unpleasant ways. IMO - not cool.

Interesting. I would like to hear from an actual escort who has been hassled by the US border guys. I think they have too much to worry about to spend time outing Canadian escorts. I understand if you pack what tips them off you are a working girl they would turn you around.

Many Canadian escorts drop into U.S. cities. It can't be that problematic.

Makes sense. Why don't you reach out to connect with Madison Winter. She has been very open about her trials and tribulations with DHS. I doubt too many others are going to come on TERB and detail out their experiences in this thread, but as I said, I know of at least ten off the top of my head who have been tackled at the border and been permanently barred from entering the US. All subsequently began showing their faces as the situation in Canada and a number of other countries is different than the US. The unfortunate part is that that experience made for some difficult moments in their private lives as well.

yes
I know of 2-3 off the top as well that have been detained & barred.
each to there own on showing their face, in many cases there are ways to hide the eyes or others sections of the face. Just like several hide tattoos, for privacy.

US Homeland Security has been cracking down hard on SW's from Canada for about 3 years now. Many of those now showing their faces have been nailed at the border and barred entry permanently.
I found this really surprising. I wouldn't have thought they would bother to do research on an SP unless there was some sign she was being trafficked, or that they would bar someone without more evidence than a face pic. (Guess I was forgetting how much authority border security has.)

Sex Workers and Travel Restrictions
This brief from the Global network of Sex Projects has a lot of info on the subject including some stories from SPs like this one:

“I’ve crossed the US border lots of times, and I was driving there with some friends for a baby shower… As soon as we got to the border… the guard…asked for my phone and the phones of the others I was with.... I was sent to secondary inspection, and the guard kept asking me about my [straight] job and if I had other sources of income. They took me into another room and asked me about my [sex] work web site; I’m not sure how they found out about my work identity; I was flagged before I even got to the border. I was interviewed for four and a half hours. I had to sign a transcript of the interview and I was banned from the USA for at least five years; they told me it could turn into a ten-year or lifetime ban. I was escorted back to Canada with four armed guards. It was traumatising, invasive, and humiliating.” SEX WORKER, CANADA"

I'm still not clear how escorts who never reveal their faces and presumably do not use their real names on their websites are flagged by US security. Sometimes you get half a story from the person telling the story.

The probable reason for this trend is increased competition. A girl who shows her face may have an edge over a girl who does not. A girl can look completely different in public just by changing her makeup.

Probably a hunch by the first level border officer. A woman who travels to various cities in the US and stays at hotels several times a year for a week or so fits the profile of an escort. So that triggers a phone search. And leads on the phone - emails, texts, sexy photos of herself - triggers a second level interview. That gets the girl into how she makes $, what her job is, why she visits various cities in the US so often etc.

A girl who books a week at the Hilton in Chicago in June, a week in SF in September at a hotel and a week in NYC in November at a 5-star hotel is probably working.

That all sounds too complicated. US Border Security doesn't know what you do inside the border. They don't have immediate access to what hotels and how you're long staying at each. I'm guessing there are pieces of a story that drop out in each telling.

On the other point, since we Americans have threads here and at other Canadian sites advising us not to keep escort info on our phones I would presume that's common knowledge to Canadian escorts going in the other direction. Most of the Canadian escorts who advertize U.S. tours seem to be smart providers. They charge a hell of a lot more in the U.S. so they probably know they aren't getting paid a premium because Canadian women are desired more than American women.

They certainly know that you've visited the US for 5-7 days 6 times in the last year and gone to different cities each time. That'll get you scrutinized. I heard this stuff from actual real live escorts who got banned. It's not me staring into space and theorizing.

And Border Control officers ask ME when I visit the States where I'll be staying and they make me show them my family's address and phone #.

What do you think?
My first reaction was you're overly concerned. A face pic isn't proof, people could think they might recognize an SP in person, but there's usually at least a little plausible deniability.

And if an SP shows her face, that's a huge plus for me. You can read reviews but everyone has their own tastes and the face is pretty important.

But after reading about how some SPs get screwed at the border due to their online presence, it doesn't seem that out of line if you want to give some girls a heads up about that.

As a middle ground between showing the face and blurring/cropping it out, how about some masks like these from my thread on Favourite Outfits (and Recommendations for SPs).

You just wanted an excuse to post more of these face mask pictures. :)
