The operation is believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S. The patient, a woman in her 20s, had been healthy, but the coronavirus devastated her lungs.

He said the patient, a woman in her 20s who had no serious underlying medical conditions, was recovering well: “She’s awake, she’s smiling, she FaceTimed with her family.”

“She had had a minor illness that required her to take a medication that suppressed her immune system somewhat, but it was not clear whether the drug made her especially vulnerable to the virus“....I wonder what kind of medication this was...sad to hear nonetheless...
Simple guess based on that description would be prednisone. For many diseases, the damage is done by the immune response, not the virus itself.

The patient, a woman in her 20s, had been healthy, but the coronavirus devastated her lungs.
The patient whose identity has been kept anonymous, was on immunosuppressant medication for a previous condition when she contracted the coronavirus, and that, Dr Bharat says, became the reason that the contagion infection affected her lungs the most.
The woman had been on a ventilator and heart-lung machine for nearly two months before the operation June 5.
The coronavirus patient was so sick, so deeply sedated that she could not speak, could not squeeze a hand or even flutter her eyelids — let alone give permission for the 10-hour surgery she endured last week.

The doctors said she had an underlying health issue, a “chronic medical condition” for which she was taking medicine, which suppressed her immune system.
The woman was in bad shape, Bharat said, with signs that her heart, kidneys and liver were beginning to fail, so she quickly moved up the transplant list.

I think we have diff definitions of "healthy"....
Since when did even the covidiots claim that covid damages heart kidney & liver?

Minor illness lol... her whole body is failing...
Nothing to do with covid

I would also point out the MASSIVE diffs between the Chicago Sun (who initially reported the story) and the revisionism that the NY Times put on it #FakeNews

The bottom line is if she didn't contract COVID she would still have her own lungs today and not have spent 2 months in the hospital. The only revisionist is Teejay and his #fakenews.

If it was really the case that her body was falling apart pre-covid, doctors would never have approved any transplant.

You also seem to have difficulty with the difference between "chronic" and "fatal" conditions. Arthritis and autism are chronic condition. So is a eczema which happens to be one often treated with immune suppressive corticosteroids.

p.s. News reports state that the multi-organ failure was the result of her lungs failing due to covid.

Source?

And no if you know anything about anatomy a lung failure will not cause heart + kidney + liver failure
Even stuff like COPD (google it) takes way longer to even start to effect your heart

Let's say that one girl was your daughter, sister, mother or wife would you still be so callous and selfish?

Keep proving how clueless you are. Death or failure of any tissue spreads the toxins from those dead cells to other organs. I actually knew two people who died because of multi-organ failure after one organ disease wasn't caught early enough. One died because a failure of part of his colon, the other liver damage. And google it. the damage COPD causes to lungs is different to covid. That is why the surgeons were so stunned when looking at the removed lung.

And I see you didn't like being called on the difference between "chronic" and "fatal". Eczema is a chronic disease treated by corticosteroids which would fit exactly what the press has reported, a minor condition treated with immunosuppressive drugs.

p.s. One source is that chicago sun-times article you say is the better one. They clearly state she was moved up the transplant list because her other organs started to fail. That means she was already on the transplant list before the organ failure.
