Denmarks success in the fight against the Coronavirus.

10% of the population has already been tested in Denmark. May 10th was the last day Denmark had over 100 new daily cases. With 24 days this month of 10 or less daily deaths.
2% of the population has been tested in Sweden, in the month of May so far Sweden has had more than 500 new daily cases in 12 days, With 3 days this month of 10 or less daily deaths.

Not much value in this article/story - the percentage is based on testing on 1,118 people. Very random and no details of how they chose the 1,118 participants.

In another thread I linked to results out of New York with results of 27% of 8,000 tested and I put there right away the disclaimer it's way too small amount to actually base any judgement on.
My guess is they are randomly testing blood samples that are given for other reasons to their labs. Not clear. Sounds like they are targeting 1200 samples per week. I assume they will release more details on the methodology and power of the testing (will depend on the population of the regions they are surveying), but at least this is an organized study.

https://www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se...dersokning-av-antikroppar-for-covid-19-virus/

The olkhealth authority has launched a survey to measure and estimate how many in the community have had covid-19. Blood samples are collected from laboratories in clinical chemistry and clinical immunology in nine regions: Jämtland, Jönköping, Kalmar, Skåne, Stockholm, Uppsala, Västerbotten, Västra Götaland and Örebro.

The collection takes place during eight weeks in the spring of 2020. A total of 1,200 samples are collected each week for analysis of antibodies. Antibodies show that the immune system recognizes the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The analyzes for week 18 (a total of 1,104 analyzed samples) show, as expected, the largest proportion of positive antibody tests in Stockholm. A total of 7.3 percent of the blood samples collected from people in Stockholm were positive in the antibody study, which can be compared with a total of 4.2 percent in Skåne and 3.7 percent in Västra Götaland.

The numbers reflect the state of the epidemic earlier in April, as it takes a few weeks for the body's immune system to develop antibodies.

Regarding age differences, the results show that covid-19 antibodies were most common among people between 20 and 64 years. In total, 6.7 percent of the samples in this group were positive, which can be compared with 4.7 percent in the age group 0-19 years and 2.7 percent in the age group 65-95 years.

The antibody analyzes are done in collaboration with SciLifeLab / KTH.

47% of all deaths in Sweden have occurred in Stockholm. 33% of all the cases in Sweden are from Stockholm. Of the 4 largest cities in the Nordic countries here are the population densities

Stockholm - 5,191/per sq. km
Copenhagen - 4,417/sq. km
Helsinki - 3,041/sq. km
Oslo - 1,443/sq. km

So it doesn't surprise me that Sweden has the most deaths/cases per capita and Norway has the least. That would be the case regardless if Sweden had remained opened or closed. I would like to see a proper study done on the effect of staying open vs. closed but that's probably months away from happening.

There's bad news for those praising Sweden and (the false idea they were) pursuing herd immunity. Seems only 7% have antibodies showing immunity which is a bit short of the 80% required. As a comparison, Spain which did a significant lock-down is at 5%.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/sweden...munity-after-anti-lockdown-strategy-1.4950144
Swedish government has been downplaying any negatives, and exaggerating all positive possibilities that could be seen in their country from the health and the economical side due to the course of action they have chosen against the Coronavirus.

This was seen in the budget the Swedish finance minister Magdalena Andersson put out which predicted the Swedish loss of GDP would be between 4.2%-10% loss from the pandemic meanwhile at the time of the report there was already a loss of 7.0% GDP. And a 4.2% loss would have made it the worst downturn in Sweden since 1940 where it shrank by about 10% due to world war II.

This behaviour is also further evident in the chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell speeches or interviews, he has numerous times claimed "they are weeks away from herd immunity" which by his words should be reached any day now by the end of this month, but reality is they are nowhere close to reaching herd immunity. Their inactions has led to unnecessary deaths that could have been easily avoided had they taken the proper measures of shutting down non essential businesses. A perfect example of this is how Sweden compares to its border neighbours Denmark, Norway, and Finland, all these countries fare better in terms of number of cases, number of deaths, cases/Mln, deaths/Mln and all these countries share so many similarities in terms of sociological and geographical except Denmark as a country has a higher population density than the others. And all these countries saw the spread of the Coronavirus in a similar timeline.

Now on to this study that was administered by the Swedish public health agency Anders Tegnell again tries to exaggerate the positives.
Sweden's chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell said the number was a "little lower" than expected "but not remarkably lower, maybe one or a couple of percent."
What he means by "one or a couple of percent" is actually 19%, as they very optimisitcally predicted that 26% of the population will have herd immunity/antibodies against the virus by now (end of this month) which was also from an earlier report that he had redacted predicting even more opsimistic number of 33%.

Once again the Swedish government is falsely downplaying any negatives, and exaggerating any possible positives that are or could be seen in the future in respect to the health and the economical side. Anything the Swedish government officials say in regards to the Coronavirus one needs to check and understand the data and the facts before taking it for face value.

Canada has thousands gather across the country
Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver
No spike happens

Places like HK have thousands gather to protest lockdowns and nothing happens

There is obviously something more at play here as virus cripples some areas (eg Italy) and is not a big deal at all in other areas (eg China) and seems to skip some countries altogether (eg Australia)

It did not skip Australia, up until mid march when lockdowns began Australia had very similar numbers to Canada. I think it strongly suggests that our lockdown is shit and that is why got shitty results.

Sweden will reopen universities and upper secondary schools from mid-June, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven told a press conference on Friday.
