Had four amazing seats to Hamilton in March. When everything went to shit and shows were all cancelled, I got the notification that I could either receive a credit for future tickets, or 'fill out the online request form' for a full refund. Filled out the request form for a full refund and hit 'submit'. That was 7 weeks ago, still no refund. Can't even seem to reach anyone at Mirvish or Ticketking - phone lines soooo busy, limited staff working. Starting to get pretty ticked off. Anyone else have a similar experience? This doesn't feel like it should be so hard or take so much time to process.

They have to get the $$$ back from Hamilton producers before they can refund.

I saw Hamilton just before the closure. I’d like my money back too.
Same here. I really don't get what all the hype was about. I've seen hundreds of shows over the last three decades, and Hamilton wouldn't even make my top 10. I suppose for the ones who aren't really into musicals and theatre in general its kind of new and hip, but the rapping just didn't do it for me. Also I suspect that Americans understand the story and have more of a connection to it.

Compare it to Come From Away, which Canadian people love and Americans are lukewarm to. Probably for the same reason. Although if Come From Away was all urban and rap I'd have hated it.

I found the casting very difficult to wrap my mind around. I can understand encouraging diversity, but having black actors play historical white figures cast with Asian offspring was a bit confusing. I don’t think that a Martin Luther king drama featuring a Caucasian lead male would go over nearly as well.

After posting here, I emailed Ticketking.

The next day, within hours, they confirmed the refund.

Make sure you include your customer number and order number.

You may be one of the few lucky ones. I emailed them too. This was the auto-response I received from the Mirvish Customer Service group:

Thank you for writing. Please read the following very carefully because your questions may very well be answered here.

1. Mirvish Productions' first priority is the well-being of our audience, artists and staff.

2. Our offices are now closed in order to keep our staff and customers safe. A reduced staff force is working remotely from their respective homes.

3. All our theatres are now closed and will only reopen when public health authorities declare it is safe again for people to gather together in public.

4. Over 250,000 ticket-holders are affected by the cancellation of shows due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its threat to our health and safety.

5. We are receiving a high volume of emails due to the extraordinary circumstances we are all facing. Suffice to say, we will not be able to reply to your email as quickly as we would like to.

6. We have carefully written answers to the most common questions we receive. We update our FAQ page daily and we include all new questions that arise from our patrons. We are confident you will find the answer to your questions here: www.mirvish.com/covid-19-related-faqs Please review these carefully and you will find the information you are looking for.

7. If the answers to your questions are on our FAQ page, we will NOT reply to your email.

8. We will only reply to emails whose answers are not on our FAQ page. But please keep in mind it may take us some time to do so. (And we will most likely add your question and its answer to our FAQ page.) Our email address is customerservice@mirvish.com

9. Please do not clog our phone lines as they must be kept free to deal with emergencies.

10. These are unprecedented circumstances that we are all in. Stress levels are high; anxiety can increase very quickly. Please take a few breaths and be patient, calm, kind and empathetic. We take comfort in the story that COME FROM AWAY tells about another very difficult time almost 20 years ago. Then, as now, the only way forward was and still is: to all work together, even if that means we do so from at least six-feet distance away.

11. To cut to the chase and give you the answers the two most common questions people are asking right now:

• Refunds may take 30 days or longer.

• When HAMILTON returns to Toronto, those people who had tickets to a performance that was cancelled due to Covid-19 will have first access to new tickets.

12. Keep well, stay safe, follow all guidelines from Public Health, and remember: this too will pass and we will once again be able to celebrate life by attending a great theatre performance.

Short strokes seem to be - Fuck off and stop bugging us. We have your money, and we'll give it back to you when we're goddamn good and ready, not before.

Will never buy another Mirvish product again.

Yup, attitude is at OUR convenience, not the paying customer.

Straight up awful.

Did you include your Customer # and Order # on the email you sent?

I think they react a bit better knowing you're an established customer with a history of purchases.
