I disagree with the author’s POV

“Civil liberties are being compromised by emergency measures at all levels of government in a way that would have seemed outrageous just a few weeks ago, but which most people now seem to agree is necessary to fight the spread of COVID-19.”

The lockdown did its job. The numbers are down. Time to return to work to prevent a repeat of the Great Depression of 1929. It’s clear where the lockdown needs to continue, in the long term care homes and those over 60. Masks for everyone. This is what the Governments need to work on.

Prohibition will be the next thing the Governments want to try!!

Haven't heard that name in a while...

Michael Bryant ... that's the lawyer that should be in jail for murder and had his license revoked. He's now the executive director for CCLA.

Sorry but you can't you the facility at any playground... guilty as charged.

Fines should be double for lawyers. These people think they are above the law.

I think there's more to the story about this guy and also the Oakville family who was fined $880 for rollerblading in a park. I bet both parties gave the bylaw officer a lot of lip rather than just sucking it up and walking away. If they did what they were told they wouldn't have been fined and wouldn't have to go to the media to get attention.

Yep. You know they did. And once you cut even 1 person some slack, all other idiots will take advantage and try to get away with more.

The rule is - you cannot stop inside the park.
The rule is to not use the furniture... well playgrounds, benches etc. Because you don't know who used it before and if they were infected others could catch it.

How do you know unless you were there ? A lot of bylaw officers run on a power trip....
That's true, but here are the quotes from the Oakville family. I would bet he's leaving out a bit. If the father would have just left and then, under his breath, called the bylaw officer an ass hole, he would have saved $880 for a nice family meal once this pandemic ends.

"On Friday, Todd Nelson took his sons Liam, Brandon and Dustin to the parking lot of Glen Abbey Community Centre to go rollerblading, he said — but after about 45 minutes, a bylaw officer pulled up and told them they had to go.

“I just said, ‘Who are we hurting?’ He said, ‘Oh, you’re not going to be like that, are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m just asking a question,’ Nelson said. “And that was it. He said, ‘Give me your ID’, and next thing you know we got a ticket.”
