Hey all,

This might sound like a joke thread, but it's something I wanted to ask about while I was hobbying more frequently before COVID-19 hit. I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but in my last few sessions I really haven't been able to maintain an erection. The only thing that somewhat does it for me is DFK, but anything else I just seem to go soft right away. My last session I couldn't even manage to get to FS itself - it's really frustrating.

I'm 30 years old and single by the way. If I'm at home and watching porn I can get it up fairly easily so I'm not sure if this is a mental block or what. Or maybe I've become desensitized to hobbying at this point? Do I just need to take a break entirely and also not watch any more porn?

Have any of you guys experienced this?

I've had this issue.

At first I thought it had to do with porn, but I still had the issue even after I stopped watching. I eventually realized (after going to an excellent but expensive therapist!) that it actually has to do with anxiety... at least for me, I tend to run pretty nervous and when my body is in 'fight or flight mode' I may not get an erection, especially when the anxiety is related to sexual performance.

This is what I'm thinking. I think I might be too far in my head at this point. What was the solution if you don't mind me asking for advice?

Are you a heavy porn user? That would def be a huge factor especially if you’re iron gripping.

Too much porn could be a problem. I do it at least twice a day (morning and evening for sure) so that could be excessive. Not sure what's considered too much though.

Also if your big head and little head are desensitized due to overstimulation with porn then you need to go without for months not just a few weeks here and there.

I would consider that excessive my mind. You need to eliminate porn usage for Atleast 3 months for you to feel the benefits of your brain rebooting. You will get a hard on just by seeing a woman’s figure through her clothes in person and will stay hard as a rock during sex... if you are also taking care of yourself in other areas that Is such as diet, exercise, sleep ect which all have an effect on testosterone levels. Over use of porn and constantly masturbating I’m pretty sure is also a cause for performance anxiety o/r anxiety in general.

Thanks for the advice- much appreciated. Do you think that also includes cutting hobbying completely for the time being too? Well I guess that's fairly simple with COVID19

If you are still getting morning wood then it is
all mental.
I've also heard this to be true.

I think it's mostly mental. That's why a connection with the person I'm with is important to me.
A girl has also told me before that she's noticed that she has clients who struggled staying hard the first time they see her but subsequent times are good.

Yes. Remove yourself from any sort of sexual activity. This includes sex, masturbation, edging and viewing any form of nudity for atleast 3 months (could take 6 depending on the severity of the damage mentally and physically). Now at some point you will hit what they call a flatline period which is where your dick will be limp 24/7 and seems like it’s no longer working along with zero libido. Don’t be frightened, it’s just a result of the brain rebooting itself and you will be back to normal so long as you make it through that period and any strong urges you have before and after.

Going to give this a shot. I went as far as blocking sites to be viewable on my mobile including most of the agencies I frequent. Thanks again!

"At least twice a day" isn't just excessive—it's in addiction/pathology territory.

Good luck in your pursuits.

don’t be too hard on yourself if you relapse anytime during this journey. What some people like to do is spiral right back into porn binge mode just because they couldn’t control the urge one night. If that happens just remember all the time you put into refraining from that activity and the eventual benefits, as well as everyday counts. Good luck my man. See you on the other side (3/4/5/6 months back in this thread)

So your testosterone levels are the highest in the morning. That is why we get erections when we sleep.

After 30 our testosterone levels decrease by about 1% per year on average.

The average testosterone level has decreased substantially .'' Men today have less testosterone compared to men of the same age a generation ago. This means, for example, that a 60-year-old man in 2004 had testosterone levels 17% lower than those of a 60-year-old in 1987.''

Your testosterone levels can be determined by having a simple blood test. The gold standard is the bioavailable test which OHIP does not cover. But you can pay for. At Dynacare labs it goes for $60.

''Erectile dysfunction — the inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough for sex — is common in men who have diabetes, especially those with type 2 diabetes. It can stem from damage to nerves and blood vessels caused by poor long-term blood sugar control''. Once again a simple blood test can determine this.'' Glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test. This blood test, which doesn't require fasting, indicates your average blood sugar level for the past two to three months. It measures the percentage of blood sugar attached to hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells.

The higher your blood sugar levels, the more hemoglobin you'll have with sugar attached. An A1C level of 6.5 percent or higher on two separate tests indicates that you have diabetes. An A1C between 5.7 and 6.4 percent indicates prediabetes. Below 5.7 is considered normal.''

Another thing to get checked might be your vitamin D levels.''Because vitamin D and testosterone influence the body’s health and performance, it is crucial that you consistently monitor levels of these biomarkers to make sure that they are optimized. Research suggests that there is a correlation between adequate levels of vitamin D and adequate levels of testosterone. However, supplementation may only help you boost testosterone if you are already proven to be deficient in both testosterone and vitamin D.''

Further things to consider.'' There is convincing evidence that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction is increased among men with ischaemic heart disease. This association may be attributed to the fact that both erectile dysfunction and ischaemic heart disease share similar risk factors (e.g. hypertension, dyslipidaemia, diabetes and smoking). Nitric oxide (NO) activity is adversely affected, in penile and vascular tissue, by these risk factors.''

Or you could have vascular density issues, In which case there always...''Shockwave Therapy to Treat Erectile Dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is usually the result of poor circulation to the penis. ... The aim of ED shockwave therapy (EDSWT) is to trigger regeneration of blood vessel in the penile shaft to support stronger, longer, and more satisfying erection''

For me, part of it was just getting more time between me and a breakup that had left me feeling sexually inadequate. Also, just being aware that anxiety is the issue reminds me to relax a bit before having sex. I'm not sure I'll never have the problem again, but it's empowering to at least know what the cause is.
