I went to my local Loblaws last night to pick up literally qty 1 whole chicken, a coupe Steaks from the butcher shop, mandarins and some green beans. The checkout lines were 10 deep. The best part of my visit was the butcher shop attendant telling me "everyone has paranoia for over buying and There is no food or toilet paper shortage". Loblaws is loving the extra revenue!!!!

Congratulations to the media for activating the panic shoppers... Doug Ford needs get off his fat ass and fix this nonsense.
Really no extra revenue since it'll balance out in the long run. After the fervor has died down, the people stockpiling won't be shopping for those items for months.

Don't be surprised if there is a lockdown and quarantine and civil unrest to ensue. My cousin is in the Canadian Military and they have a plan in place such an occasion arises. Martial Law
Thats a given now. Its just a matter of time before Toronto locks down.

BTW a lockdown is not the same thing as martial law

And our two most incompetent politicians have ran away and hidden. Tory and Trudeau should be ashamed of their efforts. Sure sure, quarantine blah blah. We need real leadership.

That tells you nothing unless it's broken down by age, health groups
I made a typo, its 6.8% and not 14.6%.

But even over 6% is still crazy high, and IMO cant blame that on a high Italian age group

I made a typo, its 6.8% and not 14.6%.

But even over 8% is still crazy high
Still, it doesn't mean much unless it's broken down. An outbreak of a common cold at a retirement home has a mortality rate of what?

Are you still going with the "Its just a flu" crowd??
Its much, much worse than that.
Even the WHO said the death rate is at 3.4%: https://www.sciencealert.com/covid-19-s-death-rate-is-higher-than-thought-but-it-should-drop

Flu death rate is a lot lower.

Also, I dont see entire countries being shut down.
I dont see people dropping dead in the street.
I dont see economies crumbling.

Do you see any of that with a regular flu??

Italy also leads the world in most cases per 1M population at 350! Their infection rate is the highest but still does not explain why their mortality rate is worse.

No, im not. I'm just keeping things in perspective. Again, the numbers need to be broken down so we can compare apples to apples.

The hospital system in the affected areas in Italy is apparently at capacity and overwhelmed and is prioritizing treatment for those who are younger and expected to survive.

We need it but we won't find it. COVID19 was created by the top 0.1% to consolidate wealth. They weren't making enough money off the frothy stock and housing markets anymore. Just as they became even richer after the 2008 crisis, so will they after this one. Guess what happened to everyone else, and what will happen to them this time around.

When ballers in rap videos start lighting up their spliffs with a square of 3 ply instead of 100 dollar bill, we will know we are in trouble.

Italy death rate just peaked at 14.6%: https://twitter.com/BNODesk/status/1238874796752023552

There's something weird going on here, why is Italy's death rate so much higher??
Their health care system is overwhelmed, and so people are not getting the care that they need. I've read that critical cases requiring ventilation in the ICU already had only a 50% survival rate.. now, if there are no ventilators available.. that probably drops to 0%.

South Korea is doing better because they've done a lot of testing, isolating people before it spreads.. and it's far more common in Asia to wear masks, further limiting spread.
Meanwhile, our government is advising against wearing masks, despite the fact that there is overwhelming evidence that the virus can be spread while people are asymptomatic.

'Normal flu' never had all these governments & organisations closing shop in this manner.

Something has them all spooked. Even if the virus isn't the underlying reason.
