Spike Lee says he’s done attending Knicks games following dispute over VIP entrance

I still don’t get it, though. I know Dolan has a reputation for being petty and childish...but in this case there is no indication of any problem between Lee and Dolan prior to this whole VIP Entrance fiasco...so why would Dolan be targeting the team’s Number One fan? It makes no sense.

I’ve been thinking about this, though, and here is my theory:
1. The Knicks made some sort of change to their VIP Entrance procedures but this change was poorly implemented and caused some unnecessary confusion for Spike Lee;

2. When Lee could not enter the building as he normally does he threw a complete shit fit and eventually talked the security staff into letting him through. He then took his usual courtside seat and watched the game without further incident;

3. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Lee, somebody at MSG had filmed Lee’s freak out at the security staff on their iPhone and posted it on social media. Lee looks like a spoiled, entitled jackass in the vid;

4. Lee goes home, wakes up the next morning, checks his Twitter feed, and goes ballistic again because he looks like such an asshole and the vid has gone viral;

5. Lee calls up Stephen A and goes on his show later that day where he proceeds to attack James Dolan and claims Dolan is persecuting him for no reason;

6. Dolan replies in his typical inept, ham fisted way and gets into a war of words and PR spin with Lee on Twitter...thereby making a bad situation even worse.

Etc.
I TOTALLY think Lee is overreacting and probably did throw a shitstorm. But like I think the KNicks could have handled this and the aftermath much better.They are an organization, Spike Lee is Spike Lee...

No, it’s not rubbish. It’s true. This fuckn guy is a crybaby. All he wants is attention on him. He thinks everyone should roll out the red carpet for him. If you don’t like it, go home and watch the game at home. Fuckn crybaby.

You're talking rubbish
I agree. I’m no huge fan of Spike Lee in particular, but he is not just another fan like everyone else unless you live on another planet. I’m sure the Lakers wouldn’t do that with any of their stars attending. Kick Jack Nicholson out?

Here's my thing, they didn't kick him out. They told him he was entering through the wrong door. So, if he's been entering through that "wrong door" for 28 years and the policy suddenly changes wouldn't the staff let him know that? I get the impression that he felt entitled to that entrance since he's been doing it for almost 3 decades and decided to throw a fit once security told him to use the VIP entrance instead.

There's audio of him yelling "nobody told me". Well, they told you once you arrived.

If you buy tickets and they say enter through gate 10, but once you get to gate 10 they tell you to go through gate 9 instead would you start yelling and making a scene? I don't know you, but I'm assuming most humble individuals would simply turn around and enter through gate 9. Then again, Spike Lee isn't your average peasant and he'd like everyone to know that.

Now you know why Masai Ujiri passed on the opportunity to go and work for this Dolan guy and (thank the great pasta monster) elected to stay in Toronto.

Masai is way to smart to even give that notion a whiff.

When people were floating that idea out there I thought to myself never in a million years.

A similar situation in the NHL is in Ottawa right now. Word spreads fast on where the best place to ply your trade is any league.

And it's not with the Nicks in NY. This total lack of disrespect is only going to further that.

Why is it that when black people do fucked up shit, or behave badly and get called out for it, the discussion always turns into 'the white devil ain't giving the black man no damn respect!' So tired.

What fucked up shit did he do aside from trying to go in the same entrance he always did?

Did he bring in the race card? Maybe I missed it.

I think he was mainly talking as a disgruntled Knicks fan. Lousy team. Lousy results. Lousy fan experience. Lousy treatment of fans, especially long term season ticket holders. IMO, he is correct on all those accounts.

If the staff didn't have a problem with Spike using their entrance, then why check his prostate?

And Larry Tanenbaum has learned a few things from hiring Richard Peddie. If Dolan actually wanted Masai, he would be paying A LOT for him. It's tampering, it would cost Dolan a few first round pick, cash incentivizes and possibly RJ.

What privilege? He should be treated as any fan or customer. Just use the damn right entrance just like any other customers not using the employees entrance. His shit stinks just like anyone else.
Did you know raptors superfan uses the employee entrance? He also has something spike lee never had, a parking spot underground

Dolan is what Redd Foxx would refer to as a big dummy. A-list celebrities bring the money in. You don't see the Lakers going primadonna on Kevin Costner.

That's him in the middle isn't it?
