Well, you would think so but this is Canada. You're not supposed to defend yourself. If you're attacked you're supposed to smile. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets charged.
You didn't include the redneck mantra: "Tried by 12 rather that carried by 6."

I'd be ASTONISHED if she gets charged. Let's see which of us is right, shall we?

She disarmed him and then stabbed him in the back.

So while I see complete justification in this I'm pretty sure this is against the SJW code. Because if he was attempting to flee I would say the imminent threat scenario is gone.

Let's see.

Yes I saw her interview in the news today, what a terrible story, I feel so bad for the girl. Good for the one that stabbed him with his own machete. (which I hear is the owner)

Maybe the asshole got rejected because he was underage and came back with a vengeance?

Didn't know that. I assumed it was self defence. But yeah, stabbing an assailant while he's fleeing is excessive self defence and assault w a weapon. I feel sorry for her.

Will they ever get rid of the YOA?
Why?.... You an expert in youth psychology who's written a learned paper on the pros and cons of the statute? Or just some guy on TERB?

I swear the number of car salesman and junior bank employees who "know more" about juvenile criminology than actual juvenile criminologists is astounding! But then, you "know" more by just hanging out at the pub with your friends than actually taking a PHD and working in the field for 30 years?.... Right?

If it makes you feel better, murder in the first is tried in adult court as an adult crime.

It was a big machete, and her finger was cut off, so she had trouble controlling it. He turned his back quickly at the last second. ---> Self Defense

There was a case in Manitoba where a guy was attacked with a weapon while he was sleeping, guy sleeping ended up killing the guy, ended up being charged with either second or manslaughter I believe.

That's exactly what manslaughter is. Accidental death. Sure he was protecting himself, but that doesn't mean you can kill someone in the process.

Not automatically. Only if the perpetrator has 2 prior violent convictions on his/her record. I believe in the YCJA but would like to see the age reduced from 17 to 15. Anyone 16 and over should be tried as an adult for any violent crime.

I hope he gets sentenced as an adult. And I hope the survivor gets the help and support she needs for losing her freind and going through that trauma. Best wishes to friends and family of the poor girl who got murdered.
I thought the story I saw said it was attempted robbery? And in the interview, she said, he wanted to kill us all.
Wow, sick people everywhere.
