https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/mobile/video?clipId=1908344Just saw an interview with the young woman that survived, she says she disarmed the suspect who had the machete (while getting stabbed in arm and having tip of finger sliced off) and stabbed him right through the back. Very brave young lady.
Well, you would think so but this is Canada. You're not supposed to defend yourself. If you're attacked you're supposed to smile. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets charged.Good for her, wish she had finished the job! She deserves a medal of honor.
You didn't include the redneck mantra: "Tried by 12 rather that carried by 6."Well, you would think so but this is Canada. You're not supposed to defend yourself. If you're attacked you're supposed to smile. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets charged.

I'd be ASTONISHED if she gets charged. Let's see which of us is right, shall we?
Yes I saw her interview in the news today, what a terrible story, I feel so bad for the girl. Good for the one that stabbed him with his own machete. (which I hear is the owner)She disarmed him and then stabbed him in the back.
So while I see complete justification in this I'm pretty sure this is against the SJW code. Because if he was attempting to flee I would say the imminent threat scenario is gone.
Let's see.
Will they ever get rid of the YOA?https://www.toronto.com/news-story/...e-murder-in-fatal-stabbing-at-north-york-spa/
17 year old charged with 1st degree murder. Not sure of motive. Very sad.

Why?.... You an expert in youth psychology who's written a learned paper on the pros and cons of the statute? Or just some guy on TERB?Will they ever get rid of the YOA?
It was a big machete, and her finger was cut off, so she had trouble controlling it. He turned his back quickly at the last second. ---> Self Defense
Didn't know that. I assumed it was self defence. But yeah, stabbing an assailant while he's fleeing is excessive self defence and assault w a weapon. I feel sorry for her.
That's exactly what manslaughter is. Accidental death. Sure he was protecting himself, but that doesn't mean you can kill someone in the process. There was a case in Manitoba where a guy was attacked with a weapon while he was sleeping, guy sleeping ended up killing the guy, ended up being charged with either second or manslaughter I believe.
Not automatically. Only if the perpetrator has 2 prior violent convictions on his/her record. I believe in the YCJA but would like to see the age reduced from 17 to 15. Anyone 16 and over should be tried as an adult for any violent crime.Why?.... You an expert in youth psychology who's written a learned paper on the pros and cons of the statute? Or just some guy on TERB?
I swear the number of car salesman and junior bank employees who "know more" about juvenile criminology than actual juvenile criminologists is astounding! But then, you "know" more by just hanging out at the pub with your friends than actually taking a PHD and working in the field for 30 years?.... Right?
If it makes you feel better, murder in the first is tried in adult court as an adult crime
I hope he gets sentenced as an adult. And I hope the survivor gets the help and support she needs for losing her freind and going through that trauma. Best wishes to friends and family of the poor girl who got murdered. It was a big machete, and her finger was cut off, so she had trouble controlling it. He turned his back quickly at the last second. ---> Self Defense
Perfectly said.Why?.... You an expert in youth psychology who's written a learned paper on the pros and cons of the statute? Or just some guy on TERB?

Those are just fucked up situations, its a human reaction to fight back, no one is just going to stay there and get slaughtered. Either way when your brought upon thay situation your fucked! That's exactly what manslaughter is. Accidental death.
