Matthew Tkachuk with 1 second left in OT. Caps a comeback for Calgary who were down 4-1 after two periods. Pretty impressive

I think goal of the year is a huge stretch. He took a shot from between the legs. That shot has been going on for years now. It's no longer a novelty. He won it in OT with 1 second left so perhaps dramatic. I think the lacrosse goal takes a lot more skill and much more of a novelty in the NHL. First time success apparently in the NHL.

Important goal too

Here's all the failed attempts. It's not easy.

Matthews tried the lacrosse goal on an open net when he had no time to go to backhand but missed

I think there was a great one-handed goal earlier in the year.

Question: Player tries the lacrosse move and has his stick in the air. If opposing player swipes at his stick to knock
the puck off the blade, would that be slashing?

Another question about the lacrosse goal. Does the player have to make sure the shaft of the stick is below the crossbar? Otherwise wouldn’t it be directing the puck in with a high stick?

It was below the crossbar, commentator mentioned it in clip.

Isn't that obvious? What would make this exempt from existing rules.

Yes Coleman
This makes Coleman's goal only greater:

New Jersey Devils center Blake Coleman. Midway through the second period in the Devils' season opener on Oct. 4, a teammate's stick clipped Coleman in the mouth, damaging four teeth and depositing a sandwich of fiberglass splinters that had to be extracted as a prelude to an emergency root canal. After missing just four minutes of ice time, though, Coleman returned and scored on a one-handed Frisbee-flip backhand.

I agree but he was off balance and got such a strong shot away. That being said that Blake Coleman one handed goal while lying on the ice defies logic. That is the goal of the year so far. I stand corrected.

A guy on Columbus scored a really good one as well. Very Similar:

This one may even be a better betweener since he deked out a guy skated a bit with it hounded by 2 guys. Good shot selection. Probably would have been checked if he pulled it around for conventional forhand
