Right now it is all about cuts to education, teachers are just asking for cost of living.
10,000 fewer teachers in the next 5 years is a big deal.
Bottom line, Ontario is drowning in debt. It can't continue. All those mines, mills, factories, industries that have closed in Ontario that most teachers never give a second thought to? Well, those were good paying jobs that pay solid taxes that help fund schools. There is a reaction to losing revenue.

Most workers in the private sector do not see annual salary increases just because.

The Ontario Government has not said no to raises. They've just said that all public sector employees, including teachers, will receive a 1% salary increase per year for 3 years. That's better than nothing. (Which is what they should get.)

I don't think it's asking a lot.

And frankly, it proves my first point. It IS all about the money.

Why not just tax the rich instead?
Less progressive taxation and corporate tax breaks are the only reasons we have deficits now.
If you live in Ontario and have a yearly income of more than $220,000 you’re income tax rate is over 46%. That is more than fair.

You can tax the rich, that's fine but that won't fix the problem, the teachers are over compensated to begin with, yet they are asking for more and always will. I put them in the same category as rich people, they use the same tactics. I'm not a fan of Doug Ford , but cuts have to be made somewhere. Ontario can't be spending endlessly like under the Liberals. It's unsustainable. It just seems like every Liberal's answer to any financial issue is "Tax the Rich"
Teachers should not be unionized since they are so-called professionals like lawyers etc, unlike skilled and hourly workers in the trades environments i.e.) electricians, auto-technicians, bus drivers etc. Professionals do not go on strikes.

Under Doug Ford the deficit has gone up $3 billion, even with all these cuts.

Yes he needs to cut more, teachers don't need anymore raises and benefits, Ontario can't keep this up, it's unsustainable, neither the leadership of the PC party or the Liberal party have been able to stop the deficit from rising. If the NDP got in it would be even worse, you can tax the rich all you want but until their are cuts in spending nothing will change.

Cuts means severance packages & retraining costs
It is an expensive (one time) thing to debloat a government
But larue, Frod is claiming he didn't cut any jobs to make those cuts.
How can he spend $3 billion of severance payments without firing a single person?
Did he lie to you?

Or are you just making up shit again?

More hot air.
You really should not just make shit up, it makes you look bad.

While the shortfall last year was $7.4 billion, the deficit remains on track to be $10.3 billion for 2019-20, though Phillips is expected to revise that figure in November’s fall economic statement.

After toppling Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals in June 2018, the Ford government determined the deficit had ballooned to $15 billion.
