Anyone else tired of these whiny entitled hacks? They are really good at creating lists of things they won't do, of which, some are core duties related to their jobs that we pay them for.
Time to scrap this useless waste of time and money.

Public sector unions are a ridiculous and corrupt reality.

There will likely be a strike because of Ford's cuts.
And there should be, Ford is cutting education, not fat.

Stuck in Lodi again
But they are not using children as pawns in their negotiations. Much.

Do their rules also forbid them from posting on internet message boards during working hours?

The benefits package alone is GREAT for these teachers. Heck, even laser eye surgery is covered.

They have paid personal days.

They get paid days off (Summer, Christmas, March break,...)

What else more do they want? How much will be good enough?

A union mentality: enough is never enough

Did you know that they get 2 pairs of glasses per year as part of their benefits package? Most people get a single pair every 2 years. If these greedy union hacks would give up a single pair per year, that would account for approx $5 million per year in savings. But they're greedy fuckers.
And the past 15 years of Liberal handouts and pandering to the unions hasn't helped.

My sister is a teacher. I know all about the cushy perks they get not just the benefits. Its soo bad that the school board has a website they visit to see which doctors are abusing the system and to not see those doctors.....LOL, Like that would stop the teacher from using their benefits to the fullest.

And some school boards havent had a contract in a few years, like hers. She is talking about STRIKE!

On a side note, UNIONS have been rising the cost of living for years. The more they ask, the more something has to rise in cost.

We have labor laws. No need for unions.

Unions haven't been raising the cost of living. Its the tax breaks on the rich.
Those same folks who make use of those tax breaks just pay for the cons to tell you its immigrants and unions dragging you down, not themselves.

It's always about taxing the rich, you can tax the rich but how about teachers giving up some of their benefits and salary so cuts don't have to be made in other areas

Anyone else...
Anyone else literate? This is the support workers, not teachers. That means caretakers and secretaries etc.

If their press release is truthful, their average yearly salary is $38,000; selfish bastards.

Why not just tax the rich instead?
Less progressive taxation and corporate tax breaks are the only reasons we have deficits now.

Lol. I imagine this contract negotiation tactic happens all the time in the private sector. "That bonus you're going to offer me...you keep it, it will help the company's bottom line. I do not accept this raise. Please put it back into operating expenses. Thank you. Please roll back some of my benefits while you're at it. I'm going to start buying my own stationary and paper clips and staples, too. Thank you."

You think taxing the poor is a better strategy?

Not to mention that you've just suggested taxing the rich teachers to pay for the stuff you are too poor — or too cheap and selfish — to buy for your kids.

It's all about the money.

Anyone who believes any differently is naive.

The teachers like to portray it as "cuts to education", but that's just bullshit. It's all about more salary for them. End of story.

Right now it is all about cuts to education, teachers are just asking for cost of living.
10,000 fewer teachers in the next 5 years is a big deal.

Is asking for a cost a living increase unreasonable? And that's generally all they usually get in the end. But this article is still about CUPE, not teachers.

You can tax the rich, that's fine but that won't fix the problem, the teachers are over compensated to begin with, yet they are asking for more and always will. I put them in the same category as rich people, they use the same tactics. I'm not a fan of Doug Ford , but cuts have to be made somewhere. Ontario can't be spending endlessly like under the Liberals. It's unsustainable. It just seems like every Liberal's answer to any financial issue is "Tax the Rich"
