The main reason we have difficulty keeping athlete in this country is the insane tax rates (54% in the highest tax bracket). Second is weather for most outdoor sports.

She's the first 1st Canadian to claim a Grand Slam title. So naturally Canadians are celebrating her. She deserves the recognition for that, even if she doesn't win another. Your wait and see if she wins a few before you give her credit attitude certainly is a strange one. So just how many Grand Slams does she have to win before she gets the "jacal2006 seal of approval?"
Naturally Canadians were going wild when they won. It was a big achievement. But it's ridiculous to say "then look what happened" as if celebrating the win somehow prevented them from any future success. As if people shouldn't celebrate victories or individuals and teams don't deserve recognition until they win several titles. That's idiotic.

They would stay in Canada if taxes were lowered and/or if income earned in a foreign country is tax-exempt. The US$3.8 million that Bianca earned was for her performance in a foreign country call the United States. She is probably already paying U.S. tax on that money.
