It appears to whom?

And, on what facts do you rely in support of your thesis?

Perry
It appears, to yours truly.

This is year 4 under the shapeero regime and the team started getting worse, literally, on day 1 of his taking the reins. They have a core of 4 good, young position players and then some place holders. Not that I know how good the arms on the farm are, but I do not see one pitcher on the current roster who is an above average starter, let alone an ace. Who is a prime prospect on the farm and at what level are they playing? They have to have games where it is all bullpen because there isn't even anyone in Buffalo that they feel can start. I can't see a solid rotation from internal resources for at least 3 years. There are probably a couple of serviceable arms in the bullpen, but if they don't re-up Giles, they don't have a closer either.

3 years minimum to fill in the other 18-20 positions...if they are lucky and all their plans pan out. So yeah, 7-9 years. I suspect that you don't agree, but that's the way I see it. They have a lot of prospects which a lot of hoping.

Here's a question, Perry. How long do you think it should take for a team that will lose 100 games to become a contender? Then add on the 4 years that shapeero has already had.

Hope your wrong....not sure I got that much time left!...… Might that that be an issue with you too?:blue:
Not really. I am just sick of the team getting worse each and every year under shapeero, how he has destroyed all the goodwill of the fan base and all because of cheapness and refusing to keep anybody that AA acquired. To repeat myself, Rogers has the resources for the team to do some rebuilding but at the same time give us something better than a AAA team. The better part of a decade for a wealthy team is unacceptable in my books.

4th year of the regime, 3rd of the rebuild.

Your also over valuing the rest of the roster after the core. Most of the time the core is handful players, and the rest just compliment them. The core are young controllable talent that they have giving them a big window to win. You keep assuming they won't spend money because they're running things like Cleveland. They keep saying they will spend when the timeline is right.

If this team is one of the better teams in baseball by 2021 they've done their job. Next year if they are an improved team, they've plan is working. This team has the most home runs in baseball the last two months. That's not bad at all. I've maintained and always will, your not going to know until 5 or 6 years. That's the timeline these guys get. You can bitch all you want between now and then, but in a couple of years you might realize how wrong your were, or your realize how right you were.

Does anyone know (gcostanza) what the Jays received for Sogard? Finally found an article that suggested it was 2 players to be named later. Jays get to choose 2 from 4 pitchers named currently in Ray's system.
It's my understanding that the Blue Jays will select the 2 players at the end of the season.
Not gospel, but that's what I've heard.

One could even say, that is, someone without a hard-on/scorn for the present Toronto baseball brain-trust, that 2019 is the 1st true year of the rebuild.

As I posted a page or so ago, Shapiro (not Shapeero) and Atkins and the rest of the group have been cleaning up the mess that Alex A. left when he departed.
Now the late hangers-on at the party have departed, and the serious housecleaning is happening, the carpet and floors cleaned and polished, the walls getting repainted. Next year I would expect to see some improvement in the W/L record, perhaps a .500 record.
Nate Pearson is coming, Adam Kloffenstein is coming, Patrick Murphy is coming.
Will they all turn into Cy Young winners? Of course not, but there is justifiable optimism if one looks at the Blue Jays farm system.
Patience, it's a virtue.

Jays get to select 2 pitchers from 2 different sets of groups (I believe its 1 group of class A pitchers, and 1 group of AA pitchers)

Nikki Huffman is sexy! She jogged all the way to right field wearing those yoga pants to tend to injured right fielder and then jogged back to the dugout

5-6 years, not terrible. 7-9 years, too much time.

At this point, all we can do is speculate.

Congrats to Sanchez for throwing 6 no hit innings in his Astro debut for the 12th no hitter in Astros history.

What did the Jays get for him again?

Sanchez and Biagini are part of a combined nohitter for Houston tonight, while the guy they got traded for (Fisher) gets knocked out of the game cause he cant catch a routine flyball.

You cant make this stuff up...LOL

lol. Aaron was a champion tonight. We got a utility outfielder and a jar of pine tar. I think the future is bright......if we spend on pitching.

I hate this multiyear future plan. Keep the young core, keep the experienced pitching, resign Shoemaker.... make a few off-season acquisitions, trade a few overload of fielders for pitching depth.... and just make a stab at the wildcard next year. I’m sorry I just don’t understand why that’s not the approach. But who knows we might be pleasantly surprised? I’ve been seeing a lot of lesser known guys with mid to upper 90s fastballs this past week.
